1Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.

And early2 in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he3 sat down, and taught them.

And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,

They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.

Now Moses4 in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but5 what sayest thou?

TRIED, CHRIST, BY HIS ENEMIES

This they said, tempting him6, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus7 stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he8 heard them not].

So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said9 unto them, He that10 is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

68If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

I know69 that ye are Abraham's seed; but70 ye seek to kill me, because71 my word hath no place in you.

They answered and said unto him, Abraham74 is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If75 ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham.

But now76 ye seek to kill me, a man77 that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this78 did not Abraham.

Jesus answered, If109 I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is110 my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say111, that he is your God:

Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
