Joh 9:1 CHRONIC AILMENTS HEALTH-DISEASE MIRACLES | ¶ And as Jesus passed by, he saw1 a man which was blind from his birth. |
Joh 9:2 | And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who2 did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? |
Joh 9:3 | Jesus answered, Neither3 hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but4 that the works of God should be made manifest in him. |

Joh 9:6 HEALTH-DISEASE | When he had thus spoken, he spat9 on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay, |

Joh 9:8 BEGGARS TESTIMONY, RELIGIOUS | ¶ The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not17 this he that sat18 and begged? |
Joh 9:9 TESTIMONY, RELIGIOUS | Some said, This is he: others said, He is like him: but he said, I am he. |
Joh 9:10 | ¶19Therefore said they unto him, How were thine eyes opened? |
Joh 9:11 Siloam | He answered and said, A man20 that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight. |
Joh 9:12 | Then said they unto him, Where21 is he? He said, I know not. |
Joh 9:13 | They are offended at it, and excommunicate him; |
Joh 9:13 | ¶22They brought to the Pharisees him that aforetime was blind. |
Joh 9:14 SABBATH | 23And it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes. |
Joh 9:15 | Then again the Pharisees24 also asked him how he had received his sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see. |
Joh 9:16 PUBLIC OPINION | Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man25 is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there26 was a division among them. |
Joh 9:17 CHRIST JESUS | They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is27 a prophet. |
Joh 9:18 | 28But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight. |
Joh 9:19 | And they asked them, saying, Is this29 your son, who ye say was born blind? how then doth he now see? |
Joh 9:20 | ¶ His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind: |
Joh 9:21 | But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself. |
Joh 9:22 COURAGE-FEAR SYNAGOGUES | These words spake his parents, because30 they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should31 be put out of the synagogue. |
Joh 9:23 | Therefore said his parents, He is32 of age; ask him. |
Joh 9:24 FAITH-UNBELIEF | Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give33 God the praise: we know34 that this man is a sinner35. |
Joh 9:25 KNOWLEDGE-IGNORANCE | He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing36 I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see. |
Joh 9:26 | Then said they to him again, What did he to thee? how opened he thine eyes? |
Joh 9:27 | He answered them, I have37 told you already, and ye did not hear: wherefore would ye hear it again? will ye also be his disciples? |
Joh 9:28 HUMILITY-PRIDE | Then they38 reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but39 we are Moses' disciples. |
Joh 9:29 | We know40 that God spake unto Moses: as for41 this fellow, we know not42 from whence he is. |
Joh 9:30 KNOWLEDGE-IGNORANCE | ¶ The man answered and said unto them, Why herein43 is a marvellous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet44 he hath opened mine eyes. |
Joh 9:31 | Now we know45 that God heareth not sinners: but if any46 man be a worshipper of God, and doeth47 his will, him48 he heareth. |
Joh 9:32 | Since49 the world50 began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind. |
Joh 9:33 | If this man were51 not of God, he could do nothing. |
Joh 9:34 CHURCH, THE CONTEMPT | They answered and said unto him, Thou wast52 altogether born in sins, and dost53 thou teach us? And they54 cast him out55. |
Joh 9:35 | but he is received of Jesus, and confesses him. |

Joh 9:37 | And Jesus said unto him, Thou60 hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee. |
Joh 9:38 REVERENCE-IRREVERENCE | And he said, Lord61, I believe. And he worshipped him. |
Joh 9:39 | Who they are whom Christ enlightens. |
Joh 9:39 CHRIST JESUS | ¶ And Jesus said, For62 judgment I am come into this world, that they63 which see not might see; and that they which see might be64 made blind. |
Joh 9:40 | ¶ And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are65 we blind also? |
Joh 9:41 FUTURE, THE HUMILITY-PRIDE | Jesus said unto them, If66 ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth. |
