¶ What advantage¹ then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision?

Much² every way: chiefly, because³ that unto them were committed⁴ the oracles⁵ of God.

For what if some⁶ did not believe? shall⁷ their unbelief make the faith⁸ of God without effect?

God forbid⁹: yea, let God¹⁰ be true, but every¹¹ man a liar; as it is written, That thou¹² mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

But if¹³ our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of God, what shall¹⁴ we say? Is God¹⁵ unrighteous who taketh vengeance? (I speak¹⁶ as a man)

God forbid¹⁷: for then¹⁸ how shall God judge the world?

For if the truth¹⁹ of God hath more abounded through my lie unto his glory; why yet²⁰ am I also judged as a sinner?

And not rather, (as we be²¹ slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say,) Let us²² do evil, that good may come? whose damnation is just.

What then²³? are we²⁴ better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved²⁵ both Jews and Gentiles, that they²⁶ are all under sin;

¶ As it is²⁷ written, There²⁸ is none²⁹ righteous, no, not one:

There is none that understandeth³⁰, there is none that seeketh³¹ after God.

They are³² all gone out of the way, they are together become³³ unprofitable; there is none³⁴ that doeth good, no, not one.

Their throat³⁵ is an open sepulchre; with their³⁶ tongues they have used deceit; the poison³⁷ of asps is under their lips:

³⁸Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:

³⁹Their feet are swift to shed blood:

Destruction and misery are in their ways:

⁴⁰And the way of peace have they not known:

⁴¹There is no fear of God before their eyes.

¶ Now we know that what things⁴² soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that⁴³ every mouth may be stopped, and all the⁴⁴ world may become guilty before God⁴⁵.

¶ Therefore⁴⁶ by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh⁴⁷ be justified in his sight⁴⁸: for by the⁴⁹ law is the knowledge of sin.

But now the righteousness⁵⁰ of God without the law is manifested, being⁵¹ witnessed by the law and the⁵² prophets;

Even the righteousness of God which is⁵³ by faith of Jesus Christ unto all⁵⁴ and upon⁵⁵ all them that believe: for there⁵⁶ is no difference:

For all have⁵⁷ sinned, and come⁵⁸ short of⁵⁹ the glory of God;

Being justified⁶⁰ freely by his grace through⁶¹ the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

Whom God hath set forth⁶² to be⁶³ a propitiation through⁶⁴ faith in his blood, to declare⁶⁵ his righteousness for the remission⁶⁶ of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he⁶⁷ might be just, and⁶⁸ the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

Where⁶⁹ is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works⁷⁰? Nay: but by⁷¹ the law of faith.

⁷²Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

⁷³Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also:

¶⁷⁴Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.

Do we⁷⁵ then make void the law through faith? God⁷⁶ forbid: yea⁷⁸, we establish the law.
