¶ Therefore¹ thou art inexcusable, O man², whosoever³ thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that⁴ judgest doest the same things.

But we are sure that the judgment⁵ of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.

And thinkest⁶ thou this, O man⁷, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt⁸ escape the judgment of God?

Or despisest⁹ thou the riches¹⁰ of his goodness and forbearance¹¹ and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness¹² of God leadeth thee to repentance?

But after¹³ thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest¹⁴ up unto thyself wrath against the day¹⁵ of wrath and revelation¹⁶ of the righteous judgment of God;

¹⁷Who will render to every man according to his deeds:

To them who by patient¹⁸ continuance in well doing seek for glory¹⁹ and honour and immortality²⁰, eternal²¹ life:

But unto them that are contentious²², and do not²³ obey the truth, but obey²⁴ unrighteousness, indignation²⁵ and wrath,

Tribulation²⁶ and anguish, upon every soul²⁷ of man that doeth evil, of the Jew²⁸ first, and also of the Gentile²⁹;

¶ But glory³⁰, honour, and peace³¹, to every³² man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile³³:

³⁴For there is no respect of persons with God.

For³⁵ as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law³⁶ shall be judged by the law;

(For not³⁷ the hearers of the law are just before God, but the³⁸ doers of the law shall be justified³⁹.

For when the Gentiles, which⁴⁰ have not the law, do by⁴¹ nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law⁴² unto themselves:

Which shew the work of the law written⁴³ in their hearts, their conscience⁴⁴ also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while⁴⁵ accusing or else excusing one another;)

In the day when God⁴⁶ shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus⁴⁷ Christ according⁴⁸ to my gospel.

¶ Behold, thou art⁴⁹ called a Jew, and restest⁵⁰ in the law, and makest⁵¹ thy boast of God,

And knowest⁵² his will, and approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed⁵⁴ out of the law;

And art confident⁵⁵ that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light⁵⁶ of them which are in darkness,

¶ An instructor of the foolish, a teacher⁵⁷ of babes, which hast the form⁵⁸ of knowledge and of the truth in the law.

Thou therefore⁵⁹ which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal⁶⁰?

Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery⁶¹, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege⁶²?

Thou that makest⁶³ thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God?

For the name⁶⁴ of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written⁶⁵.

For circumcision⁶⁶ verily profiteth, if thou keep the law: but if⁶⁷ thou be a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision.

⁶⁸Therefore if the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision?

And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfil⁶⁹ the law, judge⁷⁰ thee, who by the⁷¹ letter and circumcision dost transgress the law?

For he⁷² is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither⁷³ is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:

But he is a Jew, which⁷⁴ is one inwardly; and circumcision⁷⁵ is that of the heart, in the spirit⁷⁶, and not in the letter; whose⁷⁷ praise is not of men, but of God.
