¶ A Psalm of David. Fret² not thyself because of evildoers, neither³ be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.

⁴For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.

Trust⁵ in the LORD, and do good; so shalt⁶ thou dwell in the land, and verily⁷ thou shalt be fed.

Delight⁸ thyself also in the LORD; and⁹ he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

Commit¹⁰ thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and¹¹ he shall bring it to pass.

And he shall¹² bring forth thy righteousness as the light¹³, and thy judgment as the noonday.

¶ Rest in¹⁴ the LORD, and wait¹⁵ patiently for him: fret¹⁶ not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man¹⁷ who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

Cease¹⁸ from anger, and forsake wrath: fret¹⁹ not thyself in any wise to do evil.

For evildoers²⁰ shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit²¹ the earth²².

¶ For yet²³ a little while, and the wicked²⁴ shall not be: yea, thou²⁵ shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.

But the meek²⁶ shall inherit the earth; and shall delight²⁷ themselves in the abundance of peace.

²⁸The wicked plotteth²⁹ against the just, and gnasheth³⁰ upon him with his teeth.

The Lord shall laugh³¹ at him: for he seeth that his day³² is coming.

The wicked³³ have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay³⁴ such as³⁵ be of upright conversation.

Their sword³⁶ shall enter into their own heart, and their bows³⁷ shall be broken.

³⁸A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.

For the arms³⁹ of the wicked shall be broken: but the LORD⁴⁰ upholdeth the righteous.

The LORD knoweth⁴¹ the days⁴² of the upright: and their⁴³ inheritance shall be for ever.

They shall not be ashamed in the evil⁴⁴ time: and in the days⁴⁵ of famine they shall be satisfied.

¶ But the⁴⁶ wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs⁴⁷: they shall consume; into smoke⁴⁸ shall they consume away.

¶ The wicked borroweth⁴⁹, and payeth not again: but the righteous⁵⁰ sheweth mercy, and giveth.

For such as be blessed⁵¹ of him shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed⁵² of him shall be cut off⁵³.

The steps⁵⁴ of a good man are ordered⁵⁵ by the LORD: and he delighteth⁵⁶ in his way.

Though⁵⁷ he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for⁵⁸ the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.

I have⁵⁹ been young, and now am old; yet⁶⁰ have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed⁶¹ begging bread.

He is ever⁶² merciful, and lendeth; and his seed⁶³ is blessed.

Depart⁶⁴ from evil, and do good⁶⁵; and dwell for evermore.

For the LORD loveth⁶⁶ judgment, and forsaketh⁶⁷ not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but⁶⁸ the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.

⁶⁹The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever.

¶⁷⁰The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.

The law⁷¹ of his God is in his heart; none⁷² of his steps⁷³ shall slide.

The wicked watcheth⁷⁴ the righteous, and seeketh to slay him.

The LORD will not⁷⁵ leave him in his hand, nor condemn⁷⁶ him when he is judged.

¶ Wait⁷⁷ on the LORD, and keep⁷⁸ his way, and he shall exalt⁷⁹ thee to inherit the land: when⁸⁰ the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.

I have⁸¹ seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree.

⁸³Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.

⁸⁴Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.

⁸⁵But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off.

But the salvation⁸⁶ of the righteous is of the LORD: he is their strength⁸⁷ in the time of trouble.

¶ And the LORD⁸⁸ shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from⁸⁹ the wicked, and save them, because⁹⁰ they trust in him.
