Blue Devil
Fred Vargas
| Hook: | Daiichi 2052 #1.5, nickel finish, Alek Jackson Spey.
| Tag: | fine oval silver tinsel, in front of the point,
half as long as from the barb to the point.
| Rib: | 4 turns medium oval silver tinsel.
| Body: | rear 1/2 blue silk floss,
front 1/2 blue SLF,
using Syd Glasso's split floss method.
| Hackle: | natural blue eared pheasant, along the rib.
| Collar: | kingfisher blue dyed burnt goose shoulder Spey hackle,
stripped of one side,
then kingfisher blue dyed guinea in front.
| Wing: | white goose shoulder, as long as the hook, tented, vertical style.
| Head: | red.
| Note: | Fred Vargas lists this fly as "unnamed",
but I refuse to name a fly that, so I named it "Blue Devil".
This fly was tied without a counter-rib;
it probably should have one. I would suggest silver wire.
