Black King
Kelson
| Hook: | Partridge Bartleet Supreme CS10/2 #1/0.
| Rib: | 4 turns of wide flat gold tinsel,
with medium flat silver tinsel in between,
and fine round gold tinsel as a counter-rib.
| Butt: | orange Berlin wool for 1/5 total body length.
| Body: | black Berlin wool.
| Hackle: | black coque.
| Collar: | teal.
| Wing: | bronze mallard, tented and very low, horizontal style.
| Head: | claret.
| Note: | A classic Spey River fly, surely over 150 years old.
The claret thread in the head is my own embellishment,
as I found the black thread on the black hook with the
black Berlin wool caused the head to get lost in it all.
The classic color for the head is black.
I actually prefer brown; it looks nice with bronze mallard.
