Ro 11:1 | God has not cast off all Israel. |
Ro 11:1 | ¶ I say then, Hath God1 cast away his people? God forbid2. For I also3 am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. |
Ro 11:2 FOREKNOWLEDGE | God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew4. Wot5 ye not what the scripture saith of Elias6? how he maketh8 intercession to God against Israel, saying, |
Ro 11:3 | Lord9, they have killed thy prophets, and digged10 down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life. |
Ro 11:4 | But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved11 to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal12. |
Ro 11:5 ISRAEL-THE JEWS | Even so then at this present13 time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace15. |
Ro 11:6 GRACE, DIVINE WORK AND WORKERS, RELIGIOUS | And if16 by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work17 is no more work. |
Ro 11:7 | Some were elected, though the rest were hardened. |
Ro 11:7 | What then18? Israel19 hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election20 hath obtained it, and the rest21 were blinded22 |
Ro 11:8 SLEEP-WAKEFULNESS | (According as it is written, God23 hath given them the spirit of slumber24, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day25. |
Ro 11:9 | And David saith26, Let their table27 be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence28 unto them: |
Ro 11:10 | ¶ Let their eyes29 be darkened, that they may not see, and bow30 down their back alway. |
Ro 11:11 JEWISH JEALOUSY | I say then, Have they stumbled31 that they should fall? God forbid: but rather32 through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for33 to provoke them to jealousy34. |
Ro 11:12 | Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world35, and the diminishing36 of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness? |
Ro 11:13 APOSTLESHIP OF PAUL | For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle37 of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office38: |
Ro 11:14 EARNESTNESS-INDIFFERENCE | If by39 any means I may provoke40 to emulation them which are my41 flesh, and might42 save some of them. |
Ro 11:15 NEW MAN | For if the casting43 away of them be the reconciling44 of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but45 life from the dead? |
Ro 11:16 | There is hope of their conversion. |
Ro 11:16 STEWARDSHIP-OWNERSHIP | For if the firstfruit46 be holy, the lump is also holy: and if47 the root be holy, so are the branches. |
Ro 11:17 ISRAEL-THE JEWS TREES | And if some48 of the branches be broken off, and thou, being49 a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them50, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree; |
Ro 11:18 | The Gentiles may not exult over them; |
Ro 11:18 | Boast not51 against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest52 not the root, but the root thee. |
Ro 11:19 | Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that53 I might be graffed in. |
Ro 11:20 FAITH-UNBELIEF HUMILITY-PRIDE REVERENCE-IRREVERENCE | ¶ Well54; because55 of unbelief they were broken off, and56 thou standest by faith. Be57 not highminded, but58 fear: |
Ro 11:21 | For if God59 spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee. |
Ro 11:22 GOODNESS OF GOD | Behold therefore60 the goodness and severity61 of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou62 continue in his goodness: otherwise63 thou also shalt be cut off. |
Ro 11:23 | 64And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again. |
Ro 11:24 | 65For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree? |
Ro 11:25 BLINDNESS-VISION | For I would66 not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this67 mystery, lest68 ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness69 in part is happened to Israel, until70 the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. |
Ro 11:26 | for there is a promise of their salvation. |
Ro 11:26 MOUNTAINS AND HILLS TITLES AND NAMES ZION OR SION Zion | And so all71 Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There72 shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall73 turn away ungodliness from Jacob: |
Ro 11:27 COVENANTS AND VOWS | For this74 is my covenant unto them, when75 I shall take away their sins. |
Ro 11:28 | As concerning the gospel, they are enemies76 for your sakes: but77 as touching the election, they are beloved78 for the fathers' sakes. |
Ro 11:29 | 79For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. |
Ro 11:30 | ¶ For as ye80 in times past have not believed81 God, yet have now obtained mercy through82 their unbelief: |
Ro 11:31 | Even so have these also now not believed83, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy. |
Ro 11:32 | For God84 hath concluded them all85 in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all. |
Ro 11:33 | God's judgments are unsearchable. |
Ro 11:33 MYSTERIES-REVELATIONS STRANGE PROVIDENCES WAYS, DIVINE WISDOM-FOLLY | ¶ O the depth86 of the riches87 both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how88 unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! |
Ro 11:34 MYSTERIES-REVELATIONS | 89For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor? |
Ro 11:35 | 90Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again? |
Ro 11:36 | For of him91, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom92 be glory for ever. Amen. |
