¶ And when he had called¹ unto him his twelve disciples, he gave² them power against³ unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

Now the names of the twelve apostles⁴ are these; The first, Simon⁵, who is called Peter, and Andrew⁶ his brother; James⁷ the son of Zebedee, and John⁸ his brother;

Philip⁹, and Bartholomew; Thomas¹⁰, and Matthew¹¹ the publican; James¹³ the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus¹⁴, whose surname was Thaddaeus;

Simon¹⁷ the Canaanite, and¹⁹ Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.

¶ These twelve Jesus sent²⁰ forth, and commanded them, saying, Go²¹ not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans²² enter ye not:

But go²³ rather to the lost²⁴ sheep of the house of Israel.

And as ye go, preach²⁵, saying, The²⁶ kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Heal²⁷ the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye²⁸ have received, freely give.

Provide²⁹ neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses,

¶ Nor scrip³⁰ for your journey, neither two³¹ coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves³²: for the workman is worthy of his meat.

And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire³³ who in it is worthy; and there³⁴ abide till ye go thence.

And when ye come into an house, salute it³⁵.

³⁶And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.

And whosoever³⁷ shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake³⁸ off the dust of your feet.

Verily³⁹ I say unto you, It⁴⁰ shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the⁴¹ day of judgment, than for that city.

¶ Behold, I send you forth as sheep⁴² in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise⁴³ as serpents, and harmless⁴⁴ as doves.

But beware⁴⁵ of men: for⁴⁶ they will deliver you up to the councils⁴⁷, and they will scourge⁴⁸ you in their synagogues;

And ye shall be⁴⁹ brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a⁵⁰ testimony against them and the Gentiles.

But when⁵¹ they deliver you up, take⁵² no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall⁵³ be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.

¶ For it is not ye that speak, but⁵⁴ the Spirit of your⁵⁵ Father which speaketh in you.

And the brother shall⁵⁶ deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children⁵⁷ shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.

And ye shall be hated⁵⁸ of all men for⁵⁹ my name's sake: but⁶⁰ he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

But when⁶¹ they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over⁶² the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.

⁶³The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.

It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If⁶⁴ they have called the master of the house Beelzebub⁶⁵, how much more shall they call them of his household?

Fear⁶⁶ them not therefore: for⁶⁷ there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.

What I tell⁶⁸ you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach⁶⁹ ye upon the housetops.

And⁷⁰ fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him⁷¹ which is able⁷² to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Are not two⁷³ sparrows sold for a farthing⁷⁴? and one⁷⁵ of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.

¶⁷⁶But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

⁷⁷Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

Whosoever therefore shall confess me⁷⁸ before men, him⁷⁹ will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

But whosoever shall deny me⁸⁰ before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

Think not that I⁸¹ am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

⁸²For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

⁸³And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

He that loveth father⁸⁴ or mother more than me is not⁸⁵ worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

⁸⁶And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

⁸⁷He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

¶ He that⁸⁸ receiveth you receiveth me, and he that⁸⁹ receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

He that receiveth a prophet⁹⁰ in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's⁹¹ reward.

And whosoever shall give to drink unto one⁹² of these little ones a cup⁹³ of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall⁹⁴ in no wise lose his reward.
