Lu 16:1 FRUGALITY-WASTE | ¶ And he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain1 rich man, which had a steward2; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted3 his goods. |
Lu 16:2 PRIVILEGES WITHDRAWN | And he called him, and said unto him, How4 is it that I hear this of thee? give5 an account of thy stewardship; for6 thou mayest be no longer steward. |
Lu 16:3 DILEMMA, WORLDLY | Then the steward said7 within himself, What8 shall I do? for my lord taketh away from me the stewardship: I cannot9 dig; to beg10 I am ashamed. |
Lu 16:4 | 11I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses. |
Lu 16:5 BUSINESS LIFE | So he called every one of his12 lord's debtors unto him, and said unto the first, How much owest thou unto my lord? |
Lu 16:6 BUSINESS LIFE | And he said, An hundred measures13 of oil. And he said unto him, Take15 thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty. |
Lu 16:7 | Then said he to another, And how much owest thou? And he said, An hundred16 measures17 of wheat. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and write fourscore. |
Lu 16:8 CHURCH, THE RIGHTEOUS-WICKED TITLES AND NAMES TITLES AND NAMES | And the lord commended the unjust18 steward, because he had done19 wisely: for the children of this20 world are in21 their generation wiser than the children of light22. |
Lu 16:9 HOME | And I say unto you, Make23 to yourselves friends of the24 mammon25 of unrighteousness; that, when26 ye fail, they may receive you into27 everlasting habitations. |
Lu 16:10 JUSTICE-INJUSTICE | ¶ He that is faithful in28 that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust29 in the least is unjust also in much. |
Lu 16:11 | If therefore ye have not been faithful in30 the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true31 riches? |
Lu 16:12 BUSINESS LIFE FAITHFULNESS-UNFAITHFULNESS | And if ye have not been faithful in32 that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your33 own? |
Lu 16:13 INVITATIONS-WARNINGS NO NEUTRALITY POSSIBLE IN RELATION TO SPIRITUAL THINGS STEADFASTNESS-INSTABILITY WORK AND WORKERS, RELIGIOUS | No servant34 can serve two masters: for either he will hate35 the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. |

Lu 16:20 BEGGARS EARNESTNESS-INDIFFERENCE FRIENDSHIP-FRIENDLESSNESS HEALTH-DISEASE LAZARUS | ¶ And there was a certain50 beggar named Lazarus51, which was laid52 at his gate, full53 of sores, |
Lu 16:21 ANIMALS EARNESTNESS-INDIFFERENCE FRIENDSHIP-FRIENDLESSNESS | And desiring54 to be fed with the crumbs55 which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. |
Lu 16:22 ANGELS DEAD, THE FUTURE STATE OF THE WICKED LIFE-DEATH POVERTY-RICHES | And it came to pass, that56 the beggar died, and was carried57 by the angels into Abraham's58 bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried60; |
Lu 16:23 HELL TORMENT | And in hell61 he lift up his eyes, being62 in torments, and seeth63 Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. |
Lu 16:24 | And he cried and said, Father64 Abraham, have65 mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water66, and cool67 my tongue; for68 I am tormented in this flame. |
Lu 16:25 MEMORIES, PAINFUL REVERSALS OF MEN'S POSITION BY THE LORD | But Abraham said, Son69, remember70 that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good71 things, and likewise72 Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. |
Lu 16:26 ASSOCIATION-SEPARATION PROFIT AND LOSS | And beside all this, between73 us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass74 to us, that would come from thence. |
Lu 16:27 | Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: |
Lu 16:28 | For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest75 they also come into this place of torment. |
Lu 16:29 | Abraham saith unto him, They have76 Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. |
Lu 16:30 | ¶ And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent77. |
Lu 16:31 DEAFNESS-HEARING PENITENCE-IMPENITENCE | And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither78 will they be persuaded79, though one rose from the dead. |
