Heb 5:1 The honour of our Saviour's priesthood. Heb 5:1 ¶ For every1 high priest taken from among men is ordained2 for men3 in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both4 gifts and sacrifices for sins: Heb 5:2 Who5 can have compassion on6 the ignorant, and on them7 that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed8 with infirmity. Heb 5:3 And by reason hereof he ought, as9 for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins. Heb 5:4 10And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron. Heb 5:5 •CHRIST'S DIVINITY-HUMANITY •LEADERS, RELIGIOUS •PRIESTHOOD So also Christ11 glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou12 art my Son, to day have I begotten thee. Heb 5:6 •MELCHIZEDEK As he saith also in another place, Thou13 art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec14. Heb 5:7 Who in the15 days of his flesh, when16 he had offered up prayers and supplications with17 strong crying and tears18 unto19 him that was able to save him from death, and20 was heard in that he feared21; Heb 5:8 •OBEDIENCE-DISOBEDIENCE •OBEDIENCE-DISOBEDIENCE •SUFFERINGS OF CHRIST Though he were22 a Son, yet23 learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; Heb 5:9 •PERFECTION-IMPERFECTION •SALVATION-CONDEMNATION •TITLES AND NAMES And being24 made perfect, he became25 the author of eternal26 salvation unto27 all them that obey him; Heb 5:10 ¶28Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec. Heb 5:11 Negligence in the knowledge thereof is reproved. Heb 5:11 •DETERIORATION-DEVELOPMENT •DISCERNMENT-DULLNESS Of whom we29 have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull30 of hearing. Heb 5:12 •DETERIORATION-DEVELOPMENT •ORACLES, THE SCRIPTURES CALLED For when for the31 time ye ought to be teachers32, ye have need that one teach33 you again which be the first34 principles of the oracles35 of God; and are become such as have36 need of milk, and not of strong meat. Heb 5:13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful37 in the word of righteousness: for he38 is a babe. Heb 5:14 •DETERIORATION-DEVELOPMENT •DISCERNMENT-DULLNESS But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age39, even those who by reason of use40 have their senses exercised to discern41 both good and evil.
