¶ And it came to pass in¹ Iconium, that they went² both together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake, that a³ great multitude both of the Jews and also of the Greeks⁴ believed.

⁵But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds evil affected against the brethren.

Long time therefore⁶ abode they speaking⁷ boldly in the Lord, which⁸ gave testimony unto the word⁹ of his grace, and granted¹⁰ signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

But the multitude¹¹ of the city was divided: and part¹² held with the Jews, and part with the apostles¹³.

And when¹⁴ there was an assault made both of the Gentiles, and also of the Jews with their rulers, to use them despitefully¹⁵, and to stone them,

They were¹⁶ ware of it, and fled¹⁷ unto Lystra¹⁸ and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia¹⁹, and unto the region that lieth round about:

²⁰And there they preached the gospel.

¶ And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent²¹ in his feet, being²² a cripple from his mother's womb, who never had walked:

The same heard Paul speak: who²³ stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had²⁴ faith to be healed,

¶ Said with a loud voice, Stand²⁵ upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.

And when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods²⁶ are come down to us in the likeness of men.

And they called Barnabas, Jupiter²⁷; and Paul, Mercurius, because he was the chief speaker.

Then the priest of Jupiter, which was before their city, brought oxen and garlands unto the gates, and would²⁸ have done sacrifice with the people.

Which when the apostles²⁹, Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they³⁰ rent their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out,

And saying, Sirs³¹, why³² do ye these things? We also³³ are men of like³⁴ passions with you, and preach³⁵ unto you that ye should turn from³⁶ these vanities unto the living³⁷ God, which³⁸ made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:

Who in times past suffered³⁹ all nations to walk in their own ways.

Nevertheless he left⁴⁰ not himself without witness, in that⁴¹ he did good, and gave⁴² us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling⁴³ our hearts with food and gladness.

And with these sayings scarce⁴⁴ restrained they the people, that they had not done sacrifice unto them.

¶ And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded⁴⁶ the people, and, having⁴⁷ stoned Paul, drew⁴⁸ him out of the city, supposing⁴⁹ he had been dead.

¶ Howbeit, as⁵⁰ the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and came⁵¹ into the city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe⁵².

And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many⁵³, they returned again to Lystra⁵⁴, and to Iconium, and Antioch,

Confirming⁵⁵ the souls of the disciples, and exhorting⁵⁶ them to continue in the faith, and that we⁵⁷ must through much tribulation enter⁵⁸ into the kingdom of God.

And when they had⁵⁹ ordained them elders⁶⁰ in every church, and had⁶¹ prayed with fasting, they commended⁶² them to the Lord, on whom they believed.

And after they had passed throughout Pisidia⁶⁴, they came to Pamphylia.

And when they had preached the word in Perga⁶⁵, they went down into Attalia⁶⁶:

And thence sailed to Antioch⁶⁷, from whence they had been recommended⁶⁸ to the grace of God for the work⁶⁹ which they fulfilled.

And when they were come, and had⁷⁰ gathered the church together, they rehearsed⁷¹ all that God had done with them, and how he had opened⁷² the door of faith unto the Gentiles.

⁷³And there they abode long time with the disciples.
