2Co 5:1 | That in his assured hope of immortal glory, |
2Co 5:1 FUTURE, THE KNOWLEDGE-IGNORANCE MORTALITY-IMMORTALITY MORTALITY-IMMORTALITY UNCERTAINTIES-CERTAINTIES | ¶ For we know1 that if our2 earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved3, we have a building4 of God, an5 house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. |
2Co 5:2 BODY, SPIRITUAL | For in this we6 groan, earnestly7 desiring to be clothed8 upon with our house which is from heaven: |
2Co 5:3 UNCLOTHED, FIGURATIVE | If so be that being9 clothed we shall not be found naked. |
2Co 5:4 BURDENS MORTALITY-IMMORTALITY | For we that10 are in this tabernacle do11 groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but12 clothed upon, that mortality13 might be swallowed up of life. |
2Co 5:5 | Now he that hath wrought14 us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest15 of the Spirit. |
2Co 5:6 | Therefore we are always16 confident, knowing that, whilst17 we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: |
2Co 5:7 FAITH-UNBELIEF WALK OF BELIEVERS | 18(For we walk by faith, not by sight:) |
2Co 5:8 FUTURE, THE | We are confident, I say, and willing19 rather to be absent from the body, and to be present20 with the Lord. |
2Co 5:9 | and in expectation of it, and of the general judgment, he labours to keep a good conscience; |
2Co 5:9 ACCEPTED OF GOD | Wherefore we labour21, that, whether22 present or absent, we may be accepted23 of him. |
2Co 5:10 FUTURE, THE FUTURE, THE UNIVERSAL JUDGMENT | ¶ For we24 must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive25 the things done in26 his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. |
2Co 5:11 CONSCIENCE | Knowing therefore the terror27 of the Lord, we persuade28 men; but29 we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences. |
2Co 5:12 | not that he may herein boast of himself, |
2Co 5:12 APPEARANCES DECEITFUL | ¶ For we30 commend not ourselves again unto you, but give31 you occasion to glory on our behalf, that ye may have somewhat to answer them which glory in appearance32, and not in heart. |
2Co 5:13 | For whether we be beside33 ourselves, it is to35 God: or whether we be sober36, it is for37 your cause. |
2Co 5:14 | but as one that, having received life from Christ, endeavours to live as a new creature to Christ only, |
2Co 5:14 LIFE-DEATH LOVE-HATRED | For the love38 of Christ constraineth39 us; because40 we thus judge, that if one41 died for all, then42 were all dead: |
2Co 5:15 LIFE-DEATH LIVING UNTO GOD SIN-SAVIOUR | And that he died for all, that they43 which live should not henceforth44 live unto45 themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again. |
2Co 5:16 | ¶ Wherefore henceforth know we no46 man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet47 now henceforth know we him no more. |
2Co 5:17 ALL THINGS LIFE-DEATH NEW MAN NEW THINGS | Therefore if any man be48 in Christ, he is49 a new creature: old50 things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. |
2Co 5:18 | and by his ministry of reconciliation, to reconcile others also in Christ to God. |
2Co 5:18 LEADERS, RELIGIOUS RECONCILIATION | And all51 things are of God, who52 hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given53 to us the ministry of reconciliation; |
2Co 5:19 | To wit, that God54 was in Christ, reconciling55 the world unto himself, not56 imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. |
2Co 5:20 INVITATIONS-WARNINGS INVITATIONS-WARNINGS SEVEN TITLES AND NAMES | ¶ Now then we are ambassadors58 for Christ, as59 though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in60 Christ's stead, be61 ye reconciled to God. |
2Co 5:21 PERFECTION-IMPERFECTION SIN-SAVIOUR | For he62 hath made him to be sin for us, who63 knew no sin; that we64 might be made the righteousness of God in him. |
