¶ Whosoever believeth¹ that Jesus is the Christ is born² of God: and every³ one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.

⁴By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

For this⁵ is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and⁶ his commandments are not grievous.

For whatsoever⁷ is born of God overcometh⁸ the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

Who is he that overcometh the world, but⁹ he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

¶ This is he¹⁰ that came by water and¹¹ blood¹², even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that¹³ beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth¹⁴.

For there are three that bear¹⁵ record in heaven, the Father¹⁶, the Word¹⁷, and the Holy¹⁸ Ghost: and these¹⁹ three are one.

And there²⁰ are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit²¹, and the water²², and the blood²³: and these²⁴ three agree in one.

If we²⁵ receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for²⁶ this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.

¶ He that believeth on²⁷ the Son of God hath the²⁸ witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made²⁹ him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

And this³⁰ is the record, that God³¹ hath given to us eternal life, and this³² life is in his Son.

He that hath the³³ Son hath life; and he³⁴ that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

These things have I³⁵ written unto you that believe³⁶ on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know³⁷ that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

¶ And this³⁸ is the confidence that we have in him³⁹, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he⁴⁰ heareth us:

And if⁴¹ we know⁴² that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask⁴³, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There⁴⁴ is a sin unto death: I do not⁴⁵ say that he shall pray for it.

All⁴⁶ unrighteousness is sin: and⁴⁷ there is a sin not unto death.

¶ We know that whosoever⁴⁸ is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth⁴⁹ himself, and that wicked⁵⁰ one toucheth him not.

And we know⁵¹ that we are of God, and the⁵² whole world lieth in wickedness⁵³.

¶ And we know⁵⁴ that the Son of God is come, and hath⁵⁵ given us an understanding, that we may know him that⁵⁶ is true, and we⁵⁷ are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is⁵⁸ the true God, and eternal life.

Little⁵⁹ children, keep⁶⁰ yourselves from idols. Amen⁶¹.
