¶ O LORD God, to whom vengeance belongeth;² O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, shew thyself³.

Lift⁴ up thyself, thou⁵ judge of the earth: render⁶ a reward to the proud.

LORD⁷, how long shall the wicked⁸, how long shall the wicked triumph?

How long shall⁹ they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast¹⁰ themselves?

They break¹¹ in pieces thy people, O LORD, and afflict¹² thine heritage.

¹³They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless.

Yet they say¹⁴, The LORD shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it.

Understand, ye brutish¹⁵ among the people: and ye fools¹⁶, when will ye be wise?

He that planted¹⁷ the ear, shall he not hear¹⁸? he that formed the eye, shall he not see?

¶ He that chastiseth¹⁹ the heathen, shall not he correct²⁰? he that teacheth man²¹ knowledge, shall not he know?

²²The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.

¶ Blessed²³ is the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest²⁴ him out of thy law;

That thou mayest²⁵ give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit²⁶ be digged for the wicked.

For²⁷ the LORD will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake²⁸ his inheritance.

But²⁹ judgment shall return unto righteousness: and all³⁰ the upright in heart shall follow it³¹.

Who will rise up³² for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up³³ for me against the workers of iniquity?

Unless³⁴ the LORD had been my help, my soul had almost³⁵ dwelt in silence.

When I said, My foot³⁶ slippeth; thy mercy, O LORD, held me up.

³⁷In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.

¶ Shall the throne³⁸ of iniquity have fellowship³⁹ with thee, which frameth⁴⁰ mischief by a law?

They gather⁴¹ themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn⁴² the innocent blood.

But⁴³ the LORD is my defence; and my God is the rock⁴⁴ of my refuge.

And he⁴⁵ shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them⁴⁶ off in their own wickedness; yea, the LORD our God shall cut them off.
