Ps 16:1 David, in distrust of merits, and hatred of idolatry, flees to God for preservation. Ps 16:1 ¶ Michtam of David. Preserve2 me, O God: for3 in thee do I put my trust. Ps 16:2 •JEHOVAH CHOSEN, AS GOD O my soul, thou hast4 said unto the LORD, Thou art my Lord: my goodness5 extendeth not to thee; Ps 16:3 But6 to the saints7 that are in the earth, and to the excellent8, in whom9 is all my delight. Ps 16:4 •PROSPERITY-ADVERSITY Their10 sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten11 after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take12 up their names into my lips. Ps 16:5 He shews the hope of his calling, of the resurrection, and life everlasting. Ps 16:5 •RIGHTEOUS-WICKED The LORD13 is the portion of mine inheritance14 and of my cup: thou15 maintainest my lot. Ps 16:6 The lines16 are fallen unto me in pleasant17 places; yea, I have18 a goodly heritage. Ps 16:7 •COUNSEL I will bless the LORD, who hath19 given me counsel: my reins20 also instruct me in the21 night seasons. Ps 16:8 •FELLOWSHIP-ESTRANGEMENT •SECURITY-INSECURITY ¶ I have22 set the LORD always before me: because he is23 at my right hand, I shall24 not be moved. Ps 16:9 Therefore my heart25 is glad, and my glory26 rejoiceth: my flesh27 also shall rest in hope28. Ps 16:10 •HELL •MORTALITY-IMMORTALITY ¶ For thou wilt not leave my29 soul in hell30; neither31 wilt thou suffer thine32 Holy One to see corruption. Ps 16:11 •JOY-SORROW •PATHS, RIGHT Thou wilt shew me the path33 of life: in thy34 presence is fulness of joy; at thy35 right hand there are pleasures36 for evermore.
