¶ Behold, thou art fair, my¹ love; behold, thou art fair; thou hast² doves' eyes within thy locks: thy hair³ is as a flock of goats, that appear from⁴ mount Gilead.

Thy teeth⁵ are like a flock of sheep that are even shorn, which came up from the washing; whereof every one bear twins, and none⁶ is barren among them.

Thy lips⁷ are like a thread of scarlet⁸, and thy speech is comely: thy temples⁹ are like a piece of a pomegranate within thy locks.

Thy neck¹⁰ is like the tower of David builded for an armoury¹¹, whereon there hang a thousand¹² bucklers, all shields of mighty men.

Thy two breasts¹³ are like two young roes that are twins, which feed¹⁴ among the lilies.

Until the day¹⁵ break¹⁶, and the shadows flee away, I will get me to the mountain of myrrh, and to the hill of frankincense.

¹⁷Thou art all fair, my love; there is no spot in thee.

¶ Come with me¹⁸ from Lebanon¹⁹, my spouse, with me from Lebanon: look from the top of Amana, from the top of Shenir²⁰ and Hermon, from the lions²¹' dens, from the mountains of the leopards.

Thou hast ravished²² my heart, my sister, my spouse²³; thou hast²⁴ ravished my heart with one of²⁵ thine eyes, with one chain²⁶ of thy neck.

¶ How fair is thy love²⁷, my sister, my spouse! how much²⁸ better is thy love than wine! and the smell²⁹ of thine ointments than all spices!

Thy lips³⁰, O my spouse, drop as the honeycomb: honey³¹ and milk are under thy tongue; and the smell³² of thy garments is like the smell of Lebanon.

A garden³³ inclosed³⁴ is my sister, my spouse; a spring shut up, a fountain sealed.

Thy plants are³⁵ an orchard of pomegranates, with pleasant³⁶ fruits; camphire³⁷, with spikenard³⁸,

Spikenard and saffron; calamus³⁹ and cinnamon⁴⁰, with all trees⁴¹ of frankincense; myrrh and aloes, with all the chief⁴² spices:

¶ A fountain⁴³ of gardens, a well⁴⁴ of living waters, and streams⁴⁵ from Lebanon.

Awake⁴⁶, O north wind; and come, thou south; blow upon my garden, that the spices⁴⁷ thereof may flow out. Let⁴⁸ my beloved come into his garden, and eat his pleasant fruits.
