Summer Solace
R. J. Brown
| Hook: | Partridge Bartleet Supreme CS10/2 #1/0.
| Tail: | olive dyed mallard flank fibers, turned downward.
| Rib: | fine gold round tinsel, wound the usual way.
| Body: | rear 2/3 pale green Berlin wool,
front 1/3 hot orange angora dubbing.
| Hackle: | light brown mottled Spey cock substitute, tied in at the front,
by the root, and wound contrary to the usual way,
spaced at twice the hook diameter, secured by the rib.
| Collar: | golden pheasant tail, split from the shaft, 2 turns.
| Wing: | bronze mallard, tented, horizontal style.
| Head: | olive.
| Note: | A rather understated, "buggy" looking modern Spey-style pattern.
It is said that a little bit of hot orange elicits strikes
when a fly would otherwise go unnoticed.
