Purple Pursuit
R. J. Brown
| Hook: | Daiichi 2055 #3/0 Alek Jackson Spey fly hook,
gold finish.
| Tag: | fluorescent lime green rayon floss, at the point,
as wide as from the barb to the point.
| Rib: | 5 turns of medium flat gold tinsel,
with fine gold oval tinsel as a counter-rib.
| Body: | rear 3/5 purple uni-floss,
front 2/5 black angora dubbing,
using Syd Glasso's split floss technique.
| Hackle: | natural blue eared pheasant,
trailing the flat gold tinsel, over the front 2/5 only.
| Collar: | claret dyed teal.
| Wing: | purple dyed bronze mallard, vertical style.
| Head: | black.
| Note: | The purple color has a very good reputation on the rivers
that I fish, so I added some flash with the gold hook,
and some extra visibility with the green butt. The claret
mutes the color and compliments the purple.
