Carron Fly
Kelson
Hook: Partridge Bartleet Supreme CS10/1 #2/0.
Rib: 4 turns of scarlet silk floss, with medium silver oval tinsel in between, wound after the hackle to hold it down.
Body: orange Berlin wool.
Hackle: black dyed blue eared pheasant, tied in at the front. by the tip, wound contrary to the ribs.
Collar: teal.
Wing: bronze mallard, tented and very low, horizontal style.
Head: brown.
Note: A classic Spey River fly. "Carron" is Gaelic for "shrimp." The brown thread in the head is my own embellishment, as I found the black thread on the black hook caused the head to get lost in it all. The classic color for the head is black.
