¶ O foolish¹ Galatians, who² hath bewitched you, that ye³ should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ⁴ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?

This only would I learn of you, Received⁵ ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing⁶ of faith?

Are ye so foolish? having⁷ begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

Have ye⁸ suffered so many⁹ things in vain? if it be yet in vain.

He therefore that¹⁰ ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh¹¹ miracles among you, doeth he it by the works¹² of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

¶ Even as¹³ Abraham believed God, and it was accounted¹⁴ to him for righteousness.

Know¹⁵ ye therefore that they¹⁶ which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.

And the scripture¹⁷, foreseeing¹⁸ that God¹⁹ would justify the heathen through faith, preached²⁰ before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In²¹ thee shall all nations be blessed.

²²So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

¶ For as many²³ as are of the works of the law are under²⁴ the curse: for it is written, Cursed²⁵ is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

But that²⁶ no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just²⁷ shall live by faith.

And the law²⁸ is not of faith: but, The man²⁹ that doeth them shall live in them.

Christ hath redeemed³⁰ us from the curse of the law, being³¹ made a curse for³² us: for it is written, Cursed³³ is every one that hangeth on a tree:

That the blessing³⁴ of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through³⁵ Jesus Christ; that we might³⁶ receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Brethren, I speak³⁷ after the manner of men; Though it be³⁸ but a man's covenant³⁹, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.

Now to⁴⁰ Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which⁴¹ is Christ.

And this⁴² I say, that the covenant⁴³, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which⁴⁴ was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot⁴⁵ disannul, that it⁴⁶ should make the promise of none⁴⁷ effect.

For if⁴⁸ the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but⁴⁹ God gave it to Abraham by promise.

¶ Wherefore then⁵⁰ serveth the law? It was added⁵¹ because of transgressions, till⁵² the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by⁵³ angels in⁵⁴ the hand of a mediator.

¶ Now a mediator is⁵⁵ not a mediator of one, but⁵⁶ God is one.

Is the law⁵⁷ then against the promises of God? God forbid⁵⁸: for⁵⁹ if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness⁶⁰ should have been by the law.

But the scripture hath concluded⁶¹ all under sin, that⁶² the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to⁶³ them that believe.

But before faith came⁶⁴, we were kept under⁶⁵ the law, shut up unto the faith⁶⁶ which should afterwards be revealed.

Wherefore the law⁶⁷ was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified⁶⁸ by faith.

But after that faith⁶⁹ is come, we⁷⁰ are no longer under a schoolmaster.

⁷¹For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

For as many⁷² of you as have been baptized into Christ have put⁷³ on Christ.

There is neither⁷⁴ Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male⁷⁵ nor female: for⁷⁶ ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

And if ye be Christ's⁷⁷, then are ye Abraham's⁷⁸ seed, and heirs⁷⁹ according to the promise.
