Ac 4:1 SECTS AND PARTIES, JEWISH | ¶ And as they spake unto the people, the priests1, and the captain2 of the temple, and the Sadducees3, came upon them, |
Ac 4:2 LEADERS, RELIGIOUS | Being grieved4 that they taught the people, and preached5 through Jesus the resurrection from the dead. |
Ac 4:3 | imprison him and John. |
Ac 4:3 SUFFERING FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS SAKE | And they laid6 hands on them, and put them in hold unto the next day: for it was now eventide. |
Ac 4:4 CHURCH, THE | Howbeit many7 of them which heard the word believed; and the number8 of the men was about five thousand. |
Ac 4:5 | After, upon examination Peter boldly avouching the lame man to be healed by the name of Jesus, and that by the same Jesus only we must be eternally saved, |

Ac 4:6 ANNAS CAIAPHAS | And Annas11 the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem. |
Ac 4:7 | And when12 they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power13, or by what name14, have ye done this? |
Ac 4:8 EMPTINESS-FULNESS PETER | Then Peter, filled15 with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel, |
Ac 4:9 WHOLENESS OR HEALTH RESTORED | If we this day be examined of the good16 deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole; |
Ac 4:10 JESUS OF NAZARETH NAME, CHRIST'S, WONDERFUL WHOLENESS OR HEALTH RESTORED Nazareth | ¶ Be it known17 unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by18 the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God19 raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. |
Ac 4:11 CHRIST JESUS SECURITY-INSECURITY | This is the stone20 which was set at nought of you21 builders, which is become the head22 of the corner. |
Ac 4:12 REQUIREMENTS, DIVINE SALVATION-CONDEMNATION SIN-SAVIOUR | Neither is there23 salvation in any other: for there is none other name under24 heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. |
Ac 4:13 | they command him and John to preach no more in that name, adding also threatening; |
Ac 4:13 BOLDNESS, HOLY FELLOWSHIP-ESTRANGEMENT | Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were25 unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took26 knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus. |
Ac 4:14 SILENCE-SPEECH TESTIMONY, RELIGIOUS | And beholding27 the man which was healed standing with them, they28 could say nothing against it. |
Ac 4:15 | ¶ But when they had commanded them to go29 aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves, |
Ac 4:16 Jerusalem | Saying, What30 shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable31 miracle hath been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we32 cannot deny it. |
Ac 4:17 | But that it33 spread no further among the people, let34 us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name. |
Ac 4:18 LEADERS, RELIGIOUS | And they35 called them, and commanded them not to speak36 at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. |
Ac 4:19 PETER STEADFASTNESS-INSTABILITY | But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether37 it be right in the sight of God to hearken38 unto you more than unto God, judge39 ye. |
Ac 4:20 COURAGE-FEAR EARNESTNESS-INDIFFERENCE PETER STEADFASTNESS-INSTABILITY TESTIMONY, RELIGIOUS | ¶ For we cannot40 but speak the things41 which we have seen and heard. |
Ac 4:21 GLORIFYING GOD | So when42 they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how43 they might punish them, because of the people: for all44 men glorified God for that which was done. |
Ac 4:22 | For the man was above forty45 years old, on whom this miracle of healing was shewed. |
Ac 4:23 | whereupon the church flees to prayer. |
Ac 4:23 | ¶ And being let go, they46 went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them. |

Ac 4:25 | Who by49 the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why50 did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things? |
Ac 4:26 | The kings51 of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his52 Christ. |
Ac 4:27 CHRIST JESUS TITLES AND NAMES | For of a53 truth against thy54 holy child Jesus, whom55 thou hast anointed, both56 Herod, and Pontius Pilate57, with the Gentiles, and the people58 of Israel, were gathered together, |
Ac 4:28 PREDESTINATION | For to do59 whatsoever thy hand and60 thy counsel determined before to be done. |
Ac 4:29 | And now, Lord, behold61 their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that62 with all boldness they may speak thy word, |
Ac 4:30 | ¶ By stretching63 forth thine hand to heal; and that64 signs and wonders may be done by the name65 of thy holy child Jesus. |
Ac 4:31 | And God, by moving the place where they were assembled, testifies that he heard their prayer; confirming the church with the gift of the Holy Ghost, and with mutual love and charity. |
Ac 4:31 ASSEMBLY BOLDNESS, HOLY EMPTINESS-FULNESS PRAYER | And when they had prayed, the place66 was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all67 filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake68 the word of God with boldness. |
Ac 4:32 UNITY-STRIFE | ¶ And the multitude69 of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought70 of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. |
