2Co 7:1 | He proceeds in exhorting them to purity of life; |
2Co 7:1 DEFILEMENT-CLEANSING HOLINESS PROMISES, DIVINE | ¶ Having therefore1 these promises, dearly beloved, let2 us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness3 of the flesh and spirit, perfecting4 holiness in5 the fear of God. |
2Co 7:2 | and to bear him like affection as he does to them. |
2Co 7:2 BUSINESS LIFE | Receive6 us; we have wronged7 no man, we have corrupted no man, we have defrauded no man. |
2Co 7:3 | Whereof lest he might seem to doubt, he declares what comfort he took in his afflictions by the report which Titus gave of their godly sorrow, which his former epistle had wrought in them; |
2Co 7:3 MINISTERIAL AFFECTION | I speak not this to condemn8 you: for9 I have said before, that ye10 are in our hearts to die11 and live with you. |
2Co 7:4 JOY-SORROW PAUL | Great is my boldness12 of speech toward you, great13 is my glorying of you: I am filled14 with comfort, I am exceeding joyful in all our tribulation. |
2Co 7:5 MACEDONIA Macedonia | ¶ For, when15 we were come into Macedonia, our16 flesh had no rest, but we were troubled17 on every side; without18 were fightings, within were fears19. |
2Co 7:6 COMFORT-MISERY TITUS | Nevertheless God, that comforteth20 those that are cast down, comforted21 us by the coming of Titus; |
2Co 7:7 | And not by his coming only, but22 by the consolation wherewith he was comforted in you, when23 he told us your earnest24 desire, your mourning25, your fervent26 mind toward me; so that I rejoiced the more. |
2Co 7:8 | For though I made27 you sorry with a letter, I do not repent, though I did28 repent: for I perceive that the same epistle hath made you sorry, though it were but for a season. |
2Co 7:9 | Now I rejoice29, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner30, that ye31 might receive damage by us in nothing. |
2Co 7:10 PENITENCE-IMPENITENCE | ¶ For godly sorrow worketh repentance32 to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow33 of the world worketh death. |
2Co 7:11 | For behold this selfsame thing, that34 ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness35 it wrought in you, yea, what clearing36 of yourselves, yea, what indignation37, yea, what fear38, yea, what vehement39 desire, yea, what zeal40, yea, what revenge41! In all things ye have approved42 yourselves to be clear in this matter. |
2Co 7:12 CHURCH, THE | ¶ Wherefore, though I wrote unto you, I did43 it not for his cause that had done the wrong, nor for his cause that suffered wrong, but that our44 care for you in the sight of God might appear unto you. |
2Co 7:13 | and of their loving-kindness and obedience toward Titus, answerable to his former boastings of them. |
2Co 7:13 TITUS | Therefore we were45 comforted in your comfort: yea, and exceedingly the more joyed we for the joy of Titus, because46 his spirit was refreshed by you all. |
2Co 7:14 | For if47 I have boasted any thing to him of you, I am not ashamed; but as we48 spake all things to you in truth, even so our boasting, which I made before Titus, is found a truth. |
2Co 7:15 | And his inward affection is49 more abundant toward you, whilst he remembereth the obedience50 of you all, how with51 fear and trembling ye received him. |
2Co 7:16 | I rejoice therefore that52 I have confidence in you in all things. |
