 1Thessalonians  2
  Vs: 20 En: 479:195  Gr:: 407:193

1Th 2:1
In what manner the gospel was brought and preached to the Thessalonians, and in what sort also they received it.
1Th 2:1

For yourselves, brethren, know our1 entrance in unto you, that it was not in vain2:

1Th 2:2
PHILIPPI
Philippi

But even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully3 entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold4 in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much5 contention.

1Th 2:3

6For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile:

1Th 2:4
FAVOUR-DISFAVOUR
LEADERS, RELIGIOUS
STEWARDSHIP OF THE GOSPEL

But as we7 were allowed of God to be8 put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not9 as pleasing men, but God10, which trieth our hearts.

1Th 2:5
APPEAL TO GOD
COMMENDATION-REPROOF
DRESS
SILENCE-SPEECH

For neither at any time used11 we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke12 of covetousness; God13 is witness:

1Th 2:6

Nor of men14 sought we glory, neither of you, nor yet of others, when15 we might have been burdensome16, as the17 apostles of Christ.

1Th 2:7
MEEKNESS-RETALIATION
NURSES

But we18 were gentle among you, even as19 a nurse cherisheth her children:

1Th 2:8
CHURCH, THE
WORK AND WORKERS, RELIGIOUS

So being affectionately20 desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but21 also our own souls, because ye were dear22 unto us.

1Th 2:9
ARTS AND CRAFTS
EARNESTNESS-INDIFFERENCE
LEADERS, RELIGIOUS
PAUL

For ye remember, brethren, our23 labour and travail: for labouring night24 and day, because we would not be chargeable25 unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel26 of God.

1Th 2:10

Ye are witnesses27, and God also, how28 holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe:

1Th 2:11

As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged30 every one of you, as31 a father doth his children,

1Th 2:12
CALLING, THE CHRISTIAN

That ye would walk worthy32 of God, who hath33 called you unto his kingdom and glory.

1Th 2:13
BIBLE, THE; THE WORD OF GOD
RECEPTION-REJECTION OF GOD AND TRUTH

For this cause also thank34 we God without ceasing, because35, when ye received the word of God36 which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually37 worketh also in you that believe.

1Th 2:14
Judea

For ye, brethren, became38 followers of the churches39 of God which in Judaea are40 in Christ Jesus: for ye also41 have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even42 as they have of the Jews:

1Th 2:15

Who both killed43 the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us44; and they please45 not God, and are contrary46 to all men:

1Th 2:16
SALVATION-CONDEMNATION

Forbidding47 us to speak to the Gentiles that48 they might be saved, to fill49 up their sins alway: for50 the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.

1Th 2:17

But we, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in presence51, not in heart, endeavoured52 the more abundantly to see your face with great desire.

1Th 2:18
A reason is rendered both why Paul was so long absent from them, and also why he was so desirous to see them.
1Th 2:18
SATAN-EVIL SPIRITS

Wherefore we would have come unto you, even53 I Paul, once54 and again; but Satan55 hindered us.

1Th 2:19
MINISTERIAL AFFECTION

For what is our hope56, or joy, or crown57 of rejoicing58? Are not even ye in59 the presence of our Lord60 Jesus Christ at61 his coming?

1Th 2:20

62For ye are our glory and joy.
