¶ Moreover, brethren, I declare¹ unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also² ye have received, and wherein ye stand³;

By which also ye are⁴ saved, if ye keep in memory⁵ what I preached⁶ unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

For I delivered⁷ unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ⁸ died for our sins according⁹ to the scriptures;

And that¹¹ he was buried, and that he rose¹² again the third day according¹³ to the scriptures:

And that¹⁴ he was seen of Cephas¹⁵, then¹⁶ of the twelve:

After that, he was¹⁷ seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are¹⁸ fallen asleep.

After that, he was seen of James; then¹⁹ of all the apostles.

And last of all he was²⁰ seen of me also, as of one born out of due time²¹.

For I am the least²² of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because²³ I persecuted the church of God.

¶ But by²⁴ the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace²⁵ which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I²⁶ laboured more abundantly than they all: yet²⁷ not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

²⁸Therefore whether it were I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed.

¶ Now if²⁹ Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how³⁰ say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?

³¹But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen:

³²And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.

Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have³⁴ testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom³⁵ he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not.

For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised:

And if Christ be not raised, your³⁶ faith is vain; ye are³⁷ yet in your sins.

Then they also which are fallen³⁸ asleep in Christ are perished.

If in this³⁹ life only we have hope⁴⁰ in Christ, we are of all⁴¹ men most miserable.

¶ But now⁴² is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits⁴³ of them that slept.

For since by man came death⁴⁴, by man came also⁴⁵ the resurrection of the dead.

For as in Adam⁴⁶ all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

But every⁴⁷ man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they⁴⁸ that are Christ's at his coming.

Then cometh⁴⁹ the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom⁵⁰ to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.

⁵¹For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.

⁵²The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

⁵³For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.

And when all things⁵⁴ shall be subdued unto him, then⁵⁵ shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all⁵⁶.

Else what⁵⁷ shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead?

¶⁵⁸And why stand we in jeopardy every hour?

I protest⁵⁹ by your⁶⁰ rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die⁶¹ daily.

If after⁶² the manner of men I have fought with beasts at Ephesus⁶⁴, what⁶⁵ advantageth it me, if the dead rise not? let⁶⁶ us eat and drink; for to morrow we die.

Be⁶⁷ not deceived: evil⁶⁸ communications corrupt good manners.

Awake⁶⁹ to righteousness, and sin not⁷⁰; for some⁷¹ have not the knowledge of God: I speak⁷³ this to your shame.

¶ But some man will say, How⁷⁴ are the dead raised up? and with⁷⁵ what body do they come?

Thou fool⁷⁶, that⁷⁷ which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die:

And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain:

⁷⁸But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.

⁷⁹All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds.

¶ There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.

⁸⁰There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory.

So also is⁸¹ the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption⁸²; it is⁸³ raised in incorruption:

It is sown in dishonour⁸⁴; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness⁸⁵; it is raised in power⁸⁶:

It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual⁸⁷ body.

And so it is written, The first⁸⁸ man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening⁸⁹ spirit.

Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural⁹⁰; and afterward that which is spiritual.

The first⁹¹ man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord⁹² from heaven.

As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy⁹³: and as⁹⁴ is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.

And as⁹⁵ we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall⁹⁶ also bear the image of the heavenly.

¶ Now this⁹⁷ I say, brethren, that⁹⁸ flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

¶ Behold, I shew⁹⁹ you a mystery; We shall not¹⁰⁰ all sleep, but we shall all be changed¹⁰¹,

In a moment¹⁰², in the twinkling of an eye, at the last¹⁰³ trump: for¹⁰⁴ the trumpet shall sound, and the dead¹⁰⁵ shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

For this corruptible must put¹⁰⁶ on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal¹⁰⁷ shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death¹⁰⁸ is swallowed up in victory.

O death¹⁰⁹, where is thy sting¹¹⁰? O grave¹¹¹, where is thy victory¹¹²?

The sting of¹¹³ death is sin; and the strength of¹¹⁴ sin is the law.

But thanks¹¹⁵ be to God, which giveth¹¹⁶ us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

¶ Therefore¹¹⁷, my beloved brethren, be ye¹¹⁸ stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding¹¹⁹ in the work¹²⁰ of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know¹²¹ that your labour is not¹²² in vain in the¹²³ Lord.
