¶¹Moreover the LORD answered Job, and said,

Shall² he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct³ him? he that reproveth⁴ God, let him answer it.

Then Job answered the LORD, and said,

Behold,⁵ I am vile; what⁶ shall I answer thee? I will⁷ lay mine hand upon my mouth.

Once have I spoken; but I will not⁸ answer: yea, twice⁹; but I will proceed¹⁰ no further.

¶ Then answered the LORD unto Job out¹¹ of the whirlwind, and said,

Gird¹² up thy loins now like a man: I¹³ will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.

Wilt¹⁴ thou also disannul¹⁵ my judgment? wilt thou condemn¹⁶ me, that thou mayest be righteous?

Hast¹⁷ thou an arm like God? or canst¹⁸ thou thunder with a voice like him?

¶ Deck¹⁹ thyself now with majesty²⁰ and excellency; and array thyself with glory²¹ and beauty.

Cast²² abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold²³ every one that is proud, and abase him.

Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread²⁴ down the wicked in²⁵ their place.

Hide²⁶ them in the dust together; and bind²⁷ their faces in secret.

Then will I also confess unto thee that²⁸ thine own right hand can save thee.

¶ Behold now behemoth²⁹, which³⁰ I made with thee; he³¹ eateth grass as an ox.

Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.

He moveth³² his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.

³³His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron.

He is the chief³⁴ of the ways of God: he that³⁵ made him can make his sword to approach unto him.

¶ Surely the mountains³⁶ bring him forth food, where³⁷ all the beasts of the field play.

He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed³⁸, and fens.

The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows³⁹ of the brook compass him about.

Behold, he drinketh⁴⁰ up a river, and hasteth⁴¹ not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan⁴² into his mouth.

He taketh it with his eyes: his nose pierceth through snares.
