¶ Who is this¹ that cometh from Edom², with dyed³ garments from Bozrah⁴? this that is glorious⁵ in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak⁶ in righteousness, mighty⁷ to save.

Wherefore⁸ art thou⁹ red¹⁰ in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth¹¹ in the winefat¹²?

I have trodden¹³ the winepress alone; and of the people¹⁴ there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample¹⁵ them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment.

¹⁶For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.

And I looked¹⁷, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own¹⁸ arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury¹⁹, it upheld me.

And I will tread down the people in mine anger, and make²⁰ them drunk in my fury, and I will bring²¹ down their strength to the earth.

¶ I will mention²² the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness²³ toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his²⁴ mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.

For he said, Surely²⁵ they are my people, children²⁶ that will not lie: so he²⁷ was their Saviour.

In all their²⁸ affliction he was afflicted, and the angel²⁹ of his presence saved them: in his³⁰ love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried³¹ them all the days of old.

¶ But they rebelled³², and vexed³³ his holy Spirit: therefore he was³⁴ turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them.

Then he remembered³⁵ the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying, Where is he that brought³⁶ them up out of the sea with the shepherd³⁷ of his flock? where is he that put³⁸ his holy Spirit within him?

That led them by the right hand of Moses with³⁹ his glorious arm, dividing⁴⁰ the water before them, to make⁴¹ himself an everlasting name?

⁴²That led them through the deep, as an horse in the wilderness, that they should not stumble?

As a beast goeth down into the valley, the Spirit⁴³ of the LORD caused him to rest: so didst thou lead thy people, to make⁴⁴ thyself a glorious name.

¶ Look down⁴⁵ from heaven, and behold from the habitation⁴⁶ of thy holiness and of thy glory: where⁴⁷ is thy zeal and thy strength, the sounding⁴⁸ of thy bowels and of thy mercies toward me? are⁴⁹ they restrained?

Doubtless thou art⁵⁰ our father, though⁵¹ Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: thou, O LORD, art our father, our redeemer⁵²; thy name is from everlasting.

O LORD, why⁵³ hast thou made us to err from thy ways, and hardened⁵⁴ our heart from thy fear? Return⁵⁵ for thy servants' sake, the tribes of thine inheritance.

The people⁵⁶ of thy holiness have possessed it but a little while: our⁵⁷ adversaries have trodden down thy sanctuary.

We are thine:⁵⁸ thou never barest rule over them; they were not called by thy name⁵⁹.
