¶ In the year¹ that king Uzziah died I saw also³ the Lord sitting⁴ upon a throne, high⁵ and lifted up, and his train⁶ filled the temple.

Above it stood⁷ the seraphims⁸: each one had six wings⁹; with twain he covered his face¹⁰, and with twain he covered his feet¹¹, and with twain he did fly¹².

And one cried unto another,¹³ and said, Holy¹⁴, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth¹⁵ is full of his glory.

And the posts¹⁶ of the door¹⁷ moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.

¶ Then said I,¹⁸ Woe is me! for I am undone¹⁹; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell²⁰ in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes²¹ have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.

Then flew²² one of the seraphims unto me, having²³ a live coal in his hand, which²⁴ he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:

And he laid it upon²⁵ my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity²⁶ is taken away, and thy sin purged.

Also I heard²⁷ the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom²⁸ shall I send, and who will go for us?²⁹ Then³⁰ said I, Here am I;³¹ send me.

¶ And he said, Go³², and tell this people, Hear ye³³ indeed³⁴, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.

¶ Make the heart³⁵ of this people fat³⁶, and make their ears heavy³⁷, and shut their eyes; lest³⁸ they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert³⁹, and be healed.

Then said I, Lord⁴⁰, how long? And he answered, Until the⁴¹ cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate⁴²,

And the LORD⁴³ have removed men far away, and there be a great⁴⁴ forsaking in the midst of the land.

But yet⁴⁵ in it shall be a tenth, and it shall return⁴⁶, and shall be eaten: as a teil tree, and as an oak, whose substance⁴⁷ is in them, when they cast their leaves: so the holy⁴⁸ seed shall be the substance thereof.
