Ho 9:1 | The distress and captivity of Israel for their sins. |
Ho 9:1 ISRAEL-THE JEWS | ¶ Rejoice1 not, O Israel, for joy, as2 other people: for thou hast gone3 a whoring from thy God, thou hast loved4 a reward upon5 every cornfloor. |
Ho 9:2 | The floor6 and the winepress7 shall not feed them, and the new wine shall fail in her. |
Ho 9:3 CANAAN, LAND OF Egypt Assyria | They shall not8 dwell in the LORD'S9 land; but10 Ephraim shall return to Egypt, and they shall eat unclean things in Assyria12. |
Ho 9:4 | They shall not13 offer wine offerings to the LORD, neither14 shall they be pleasing unto him: their sacrifices shall be unto them as15 the bread of mourners; all that eat thereof shall be polluted: for their bread16 for their soul shall not come into the house of the LORD. |
Ho 9:5 | What17 will ye do in18 the solemn day, and in the day of the feast of the LORD? |
Ho 9:6 NETTLES NOPH Memphis Egypt | For, lo, they19 are gone because of destruction20: Egypt21 shall gather them up, Memphis shall bury them: the pleasant places for their silver, nettles22 shall possess them: thorns shall be in their tabernacles. |
Ho 9:7 DAY OF THE LORD LEADERS, RELIGIOUS MADNESS REWARD-PUNISHMENT | ¶ The days of visitation23 are come, the days of recompence are come; Israel24 shall know it: the prophet25 is a fool, the spiritual man26 is mad, for the multitude27 of thine iniquity, and the great hatred. |
Ho 9:8 | The watchman28 of Ephraim was with29 my God: but30 the prophet is a snare of a fowler in all his ways, and hatred in the31 house of his God. |
Ho 9:9 Gibeah 1 | They have deeply32 corrupted themselves, as in the days of Gibeah33: therefore34 he will remember their iniquity, he will visit their sins. |
Ho 9:10 AGRICULTURE-HORTICULTURE FALSE WORSHIP Baal-peor | ¶ I found35 Israel like grapes36 in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the firstripe in the fig tree at her first time: but37 they went to Baalpeor, and separated38 themselves unto that shame; and their39 abominations were according as they loved. |
Ho 9:11 HONOUR-DISHONOUR | ¶ As for Ephraim, their40 glory shall fly away like a bird, from the birth41, and from the womb42, and from the conception. |
Ho 9:12 | Though they bring up their children, yet43 will I bereave them, that there shall not44 be a man left: yea, woe45 also to them when I depart from them! |
Ho 9:13 | Ephraim, as46 I saw Tyrus, is planted in a pleasant place: but Ephraim shall47 bring forth his children to the murderer. |
Ho 9:14 | Give them, O LORD: what48 wilt thou give? give them a miscarrying womb49 and dry breasts. |
Ho 9:15 Gilgal 1 | All their wickedness is in50 Gilgal: for there I hated51 them: for the wickedness of their doings I will drive52 them out of mine house, I will love them no more: all53 their princes are revolters. |
Ho 9:16 | Ephraim is smitten, their root54 is dried up, they shall bear no fruit: yea, though they bring forth, yet will I slay even the beloved fruit55 of their womb. |
Ho 9:17 INVITATIONS-WARNINGS ISRAEL-THE JEWS ISRAEL-THE JEWS | My God56 will cast them away, because57 they did not hearken unto him: and58 they shall be wanderers among the nations. |
