Ho 12:1	A reproof of Ephraim, Judah, and Jacob.
Ho 12:1 •ALLIANCES, EVIL Egypt Assyria	¶ Ephraim feedeth¹ on wind, and followeth after the east wind: he daily² increaseth lies and desolation; and they³ do make a covenant with the Assyrians, and oil is carried into Egypt.
Ho 12:2	The LORD hath also a controversy⁴ with Judah, and will⁵ punish⁶ Jacob according to his ways; according to his doings⁷ will he recompense him.
Ho 12:3	By former favours he exhorts to repentance.
Ho 12:3	He took⁸ his brother by the heel in the womb, and by his strength he had⁹ power with God:
Ho 12:4 Bethel 1	Yea, he had power over the angel¹⁰, and prevailed: he wept, and made¹¹ supplication unto him: he found¹² him in Bethel, and there he spake¹³ with us;
Ho 12:5	Even¹⁴ the LORD God of hosts; the LORD is¹⁵ his memorial.
Ho 12:6 •MERCIFULNESS-UNMERCIFULNESS •WAITING UPON GOD	Therefore turn¹⁶ thou to thy God: keep¹⁷ mercy and judgment, and wait¹⁸ on thy God continually.
Ho 12:7	Ephraim's sins provoke God.
Ho 12:7 •BUSINESS LIFE	¶ He is a merchant¹⁹, the balances²⁰ of deceit are in his hand: he loveth²¹ to oppress²².
Ho 12:8	And Ephraim said, Yet²³ I am become rich, I have²⁴ found me out substance: in all²⁵ my labours they shall find none iniquity in me that²⁶ were sin.
Ho 12:9 Egypt	And I that²⁷ am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt will yet²⁸ make thee to dwell in tabernacles, as in²⁹ the days of the solemn feast.
Ho 12:10	¶ I have also³⁰ spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied³¹ visions, and used³² similitudes, by the ministry³³ of the prophets.
Ho 12:11 Gilgal 1 Gilead	Is there iniquity³⁴ in Gilead? surely³⁵ they are vanity: they sacrifice³⁶ bullocks in Gilgal; yea, their altars³⁷ are as heaps in the furrows of the fields.
Ho 12:12 Aram	And Jacob³⁸ fled into the country of Syria, and Israel³⁹ served⁴⁰ for a wife, and for a wife he kept sheep.
Ho 12:13 Egypt	⁴¹And by a prophet the LORD brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet was he preserved.
Ho 12:14 •WRATH-ANGER	Ephraim provoked⁴² him to anger most bitterly⁴³: therefore shall he leave his blood⁴⁴ upon him, and his reproach shall his Lord return unto him.
