Ge 50:1 JOSEPH | ¶ And Joseph fell1 upon his father's face, and wept2 upon him, and kissed him. |
Ge 50:2 DEAD, THE HEALTH-DISEASE | And Joseph commanded his servants the physicians3 to embalm his father: and the physicians embalmed4 Israel. |
Ge 50:3 JOY-SORROW PERIODS AND NUMBERS | And forty days5 were fulfilled for him; for so are fulfilled the days of those which are embalmed: and the Egyptians mourned6 for him threescore and ten days. |
Ge 50:4 | Joseph gets leave of Pharaoh to go to bury him. |
Ge 50:4 | And when the days7 of his mourning were past, Joseph8 spake unto the house of Pharaoh, saying, If now I have found grace9 in your eyes, speak, I pray you, in the ears of Pharaoh, saying, |
Ge 50:5 Canaan | My father made me10 swear, saying, Lo, I die11: in my grave which I have12 digged for me in the land of Canaan, there shalt thou bury me13. Now therefore let me go14 up, I pray thee, and bury my father, and I will come again. |
Ge 50:6 | And Pharaoh said, Go up, and bury thy father, according as he made15 thee swear. |

Ge 50:7 Egypt | ¶ And Joseph went up to bury his father: and with him16 went up all the servants of Pharaoh, the elders of his house, and all the elders of the land of Egypt, |
Ge 50:8 Goshen 1 | And all the house of Joseph, and his brethren, and his father's house: only their17 little ones, and their flocks, and their herds, they left in the land of Goshen. |
Ge 50:9 | And there went up with him both chariots18 and horsemen: and it was a very great company. |
Ge 50:10 AGRICULTURE-HORTICULTURE DEAD, THE JOY-SORROW Jordan Atad | ¶ And they came to the threshingfloor19 of Atad, which is beyond20 Jordan, and there they mourned with a great and very sore lamentation: and he made a mourning for his father seven days21. |
Ge 50:11 Jordan Abel-mizraim Atad | And when the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites22, saw the mourning in the floor of Atad, they said, This is a grievous mourning to the Egyptians: wherefore the name of it was called Abelmizraim23, which is beyond Jordan24. |
Ge 50:12 | 25And his sons did unto him according as he commanded them: |
Ge 50:13 CAVES JACOB MACHPELAH Machpelah Mamre Canaan | For his sons carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave26 of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field for a possession of a buryingplace of Ephron the Hittite, before Mamre. |
Ge 50:14 Egypt | And Joseph returned into Egypt, he, and his brethren, and all that went up with him to bury his father, after he had buried his father. |
Ge 50:15 | Joseph comforts his brethren, who crave his pardon. |
Ge 50:15 | ¶ And when Joseph's brethren saw that their father27 was dead, they said, Joseph28 will peradventure hate us, and will certainly requite us all the evil which we did unto him. |
Ge 50:16 JOSEPH | And they sent29 a messenger unto Joseph, saying, Thy father did command before he died, saying, |
Ge 50:17 | So shall ye say unto Joseph, Forgive30, I pray thee now, the trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did31 unto thee evil: and now, we pray thee, forgive the trespass of the servants32 of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept33 when they spake unto him. |
Ge 50:18 | And his brethren also went and fell34 down before his face; and they said, Behold, we be thy servants. |
Ge 50:19 | And Joseph said unto them, Fear not:35 for am I36 in the place of God? |
Ge 50:20 | ¶ But as for you, ye thought37 evil against me; but God meant38 it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive. |
Ge 50:21 COMFORT-MISERY KINDNESS-CRUELTY SELFISHNESS-UNSELFISHNESS SILENCE-SPEECH | Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish39 you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them40. |
Ge 50:22 | His age. |
Ge 50:22 Egypt | ¶ And Joseph dwelt in Egypt, he, and his father's house: and Joseph lived an hundred41 and ten years. |
Ge 50:23 | He sees the third generation of his sons. |
Ge 50:23 MACHIR | And Joseph saw Ephraim's children of the third generation: the children42 also of Machir the son of Manasseh were brought up43 upon Joseph's knees. |
Ge 50:24 | He prophesies unto his brethren of their return. |
Ge 50:24 CANAAN, LAND OF | And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die44: and God will surely visit you,45 and bring you out46 of this land unto the land which he sware47 to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. |
Ge 50:25 | He takes an oath of them concerning his bones. |
Ge 50:25 DEAD, THE OATHS | And Joseph took an48 oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and ye49 shall carry up my bones from hence. |
Ge 50:26 | He dies, and is put into a coffin. |
Ge 50:26 DEAD, THE JOSEPH Egypt | So Joseph died, being an hundred and ten years old50: and they embalmed51 him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt. |
