Ge 4:1 | ¶ And Adam knew1 Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain2, and said, I have3 gotten a man from the LORD. |
Ge 4:2 ABEL AGRICULTURE-HORTICULTURE AGRICULTURE-HORTICULTURE CAIN SHEPHERDS | And she again bare his brother Abel4. And Abel was a keeper5 of sheep, but Cain was a tiller6 of the ground. |
Ge 4:3 CAIN | ¶ And in process of time7 it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit8 of the ground an offering unto the LORD. |
Ge 4:4 ANIMALS FAVOUR-DISFAVOUR | And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings9 of his flock10 and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had11 respect unto Abel and to his offering: |
Ge 4:5 CAIN ENVY OFFERINGS WRATH-ANGER | But12 unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth13, and his countenance fell. |
Ge 4:6 CAIN | ¶14And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? |
Ge 4:7 CAIN | If thou doest well15, shalt thou not be accepted16? and if thou doest not well, sin17 lieth at the door. And unto thee18 shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. |
Ge 4:8 | Cain murders his brother Abel. |
Ge 4:8 ABEL CAIN CONCEALMENT-EXPOSURE HOME MURDER YOUNG PEOPLE | ¶ And Cain talked19 with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose20 up against Abel his brother, and slew him. |
Ge 4:9 CAIN SELFISHNESS-UNSELFISHNESS TRUTH-FALSEHOOD | ¶ And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is21 Abel thy brother? And he said, I know22 not: Am I my brother's keeper? |
Ge 4:10 | ¶ And he said, What23 hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood24 crieth unto me from the ground. |

Ge 4:11 CURSE, DIVINE | 25And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened26 her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand; |
Ge 4:12 AGRICULTURE-HORTICULTURE | When thou tillest the ground, it27 shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive28 and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth. |
Ge 4:13 | ¶ And Cain said unto the LORD, My punishment is greater than I can bear29. |
Ge 4:14 CAIN | Behold, thou hast driven30 me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy31 face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive32 and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that33 every one that findeth me shall slay me. |
Ge 4:15 | And the LORD said unto him, Therefore34 whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold35. And the LORD set a mark36 upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him. |
Ge 4:16 CAIN Eden Nod | ¶ And Cain went37 out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod38, on the east of Eden. |
Ge 4:17 | Has a son called Enoch, and builds a city, which he calls after his name. |
Ge 4:17 | And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch39: and he40 builded a city, and called the name41 of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch. |

Ge 4:19 HOME | ¶ And Lamech took unto him two wives43: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah. |
Ge 4:20 | ¶ And Adah bare Jabal: he was the44 father45 of such as dwell46 in tents, and of such as have cattle. |
Ge 4:21 MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC | And his brother's name was Jubal: he was the father47 of all such as handle the harp48 and organ. |
Ge 4:22 ARTS AND CRAFTS | And Zillah, she also bare Tubalcain, an instructer49 of every artificer in brass and iron: and the sister of Tubalcain was Naamah. |
Ge 4:23 | ¶ And Lamech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear50 my voice; ye wives of Lamech, hearken unto my speech: for I have slain a man to my wounding51, and a young man to my hurt52. |
Ge 4:24 | If53 Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, truly Lamech seventy54 and sevenfold. |

Ge 4:25 HOME | ¶ And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called55 his name Seth56: For God57, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew. |
Ge 4:26 | and Enos. |
Ge 4:26 PRAYER | And to Seth, to him58 also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos59: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD. |
