Eze 24:1 | Under the parable of a boiling pot, |
Eze 24:1 | ¶ Again in the ninth year1, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, |
Eze 24:2 Jerusalem Babylon | Son of man, write2 thee the name of the day, even of this3 same day: the king of Babylon set himself against Jerusalem this same day. |
Eze 24:3 PARABLES | And utter4 a parable unto the rebellious5 house, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Set6 on a pot, set it on, and also pour water into it: |
Eze 24:4 | 7Gather the pieces thereof into it, even every good piece, the thigh, and the shoulder; fill it with the choice bones. |
Eze 24:5 | Take the choice8 of the flock, and burn9 also the bones under it, and make it boil well, and let them seethe the bones of it therein. |
Eze 24:6 | is shewn the irrevocable destruction of Jerusalem. |
Eze 24:6 | Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe10 to the bloody city, to the pot11 whose scum is therein, and whose scum is not gone out of it! bring12 it out piece by piece; let no13 lot fall upon it. |
Eze 24:7 | For her blood14 is in the midst of her; she set it upon the top of a rock; she poured15 it not upon the ground, to cover it with dust; |
Eze 24:8 | That it might16 cause fury to come up to take vengeance; I have set17 her blood upon the top of a rock, that it should not be covered. |
Eze 24:9 | Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe18 to the bloody city! I will19 even make the pile for fire great. |
Eze 24:10 | ¶ Heap on wood, kindle the fire, consume the flesh, and spice20 it well, and let the bones be burned. |
Eze 24:11 | Then set it21 empty upon the coals thereof, that the brass of it may be hot, and may burn, and that the filthiness22 of it may be molten in it, that the scum of it may be consumed. |
Eze 24:12 | She hath wearied23 herself with lies, and her great24 scum went not forth out of her: her scum25 shall be in the fire. |
Eze 24:13 | In thy filthiness26 is lewdness: because27 I have purged thee, and thou wast not purged, thou shalt not be purged from thy filthiness any more, till I28 have caused my fury to rest upon thee. |
Eze 24:14 | I the LORD29 have spoken it: it shall come to pass, and I will do it; I will not go back, neither will I spare30, neither will I repent; according to thy ways31, and according to thy doings, shall they judge thee, saith the Lord GOD. |
Eze 24:15 | By the sign of Ezekiel not mourning for the death of his wife, |
Eze 24:15 | ¶ Also the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, |
Eze 24:16 BLESSINGS-AFFLICTIONS | Son of man, behold, I take away from thee the desire32 of thine eyes with a33 stroke: yet34 neither shalt thou mourn nor weep, neither shall thy tears35 run36 down. |
Eze 24:17 | Forbear to cry37, make38 no mourning for the dead, bind39 the tire of thine head upon thee, and put40 on thy shoes upon thy feet, and cover41 not thy lips42, and eat43 not the bread of men44. |
Eze 24:18 BLESSINGS-AFFLICTIONS | So I spake unto the people in the morning: and at46 even my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded. |
Eze 24:19 | is shewn the calamity of the Jews to be beyond all sorrow. |
Eze 24:19 | 47And the people said unto me, Wilt thou not tell us what these things are to us, that thou doest so? |
Eze 24:20 | ¶ Then I answered them, The word of the LORD came unto me, saying, |
Eze 24:21 | Speak unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will48 profane my sanctuary, the excellency49 of your strength, the desire50 of your eyes, and that which your soul pitieth51; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left shall fall by the sword. |
Eze 24:22 | 52And ye shall do as I have done: ye shall not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of men. |
Eze 24:23 PINING AWAY | And your tires shall be upon your heads, and your shoes upon your feet: ye shall not mourn nor weep; but53 ye shall pine away for your iniquities, and mourn54 one toward another. |
Eze 24:24 | Thus Ezekiel55 is unto you a sign: according to all that he hath done shall ye do: and when56 this cometh, ye shall57 know that I am the Lord GOD. |
Eze 24:25 HONOUR-DISHONOUR | Also, thou son of man, shall it not be in the day when I take from them their strength58, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that whereupon they set their minds59, their sons and their daughters, |
Eze 24:26 | 60That he that escapeth in that day shall come unto thee, to cause thee to hear it with thine ears? |
Eze 24:27 TESTIMONY, RELIGIOUS | In that day shall thy61 mouth be opened to him which is escaped, and thou shalt speak, and be no more dumb: and thou shalt be62 a sign unto them; and they shall know that I am the LORD. |
