2Sa 23:1 | ¶ Now these be the last words of David. David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised2 up on high, the anointed3 of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist4 of Israel, said, |
2Sa 23:2 INSPIRATION, DIVINE | 5The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue. |
2Sa 23:3 NATION, THE | The God6 of Israel said, the Rock7 of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth8 over men must be just9, ruling10 in the fear of God. |
2Sa 23:4 | And he shall be as the light11 of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender13 grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain. |
2Sa 23:5 COVENANTS AND VOWS | Although14 my house be not so with God; yet he hath made15 with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure16: for this is all my salvation17, and all my desire18, although he make it not to grow19. |

2Sa 23:8 MIGHTY MEN SPEARS | ¶ These be the names of the mighty men whom David had: The Tachmonite that sat in the seat, chief among the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite: he lift up his spear against eight hundred, whom he slew24 at one time. |
2Sa 23:9 | And after him was Eleazar25 the son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men27 of Israel were gone away: |
2Sa 23:10 ISRAEL-THE JEWS | ¶ He arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto the sword: and the LORD28 wrought a great victory that day; and the people29 returned after him only to spoil. |

2Sa 23:20 BENAIAH SNOW Kabzeel Moab | ¶ And Benaiah49 the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man, of Kabzeel50, who had done many acts51, he slew two lionlike men52 of Moab: he went down also and slew a lion53 in the midst of a pit in time of snow: |
2Sa 23:21 | And he slew an Egyptian, a goodly man54: and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; but he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear. |
