2Ki 20:1 DEATHS FORETOLD HEALTH-DISEASE HEZEKIAH ISAIAH OR ESAIAS LIFE-DEATH READINESS-UNREADINESS | ¶ In those days was Hezekiah1 sick unto death. And the prophet2 Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order3; for thou shalt die4, and not live. |
2Ki 20:2 | Then he turned5 his face to the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, saying, |
2Ki 20:3 PRAYER WALK OF BELIEVERS WEEPING | I beseech thee, O LORD, remember6 now how I have walked7 before thee in truth8 and with a perfect heart9, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore10. |
2Ki 20:4 | And it came to pass, afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle court11, that the word of the LORD came to him, saying, |
2Ki 20:5 | Turn again12, and tell Hezekiah the captain13 of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God14 of David thy father, I have heard15 thy prayer, I have seen16 thy tears: behold, I will heal17 thee: on the third day thou shalt go18 up unto the house of the LORD. |
2Ki 20:6 Assyria | And I will add19 unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend20 this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake. |
2Ki 20:7 AGRICULTURE-HORTICULTURE HEALTH-DISEASE HEALTH-DISEASE HEALTH-DISEASE MIRACLES | And Isaiah said, Take a lump21 of figs. And they took and laid it on the boil22, and he recovered. |
2Ki 20:8 | The sun goes ten degrees backward for a sign of that promise. |
2Ki 20:8 | And Hezekiah said unto Isaiah, What shall be23 the sign that the LORD will heal me, and that I shall go up into the house of the LORD the third day? |
2Ki 20:9 MYSTERIES-REVELATIONS | And Isaiah said, This sign24 shalt thou have of the LORD, that the LORD will do the thing that he hath spoken: shall the shadow go forward ten degrees, or go back ten degrees? |
2Ki 20:10 HEZEKIAH | ¶25And Hezekiah answered, It is a light thing for the shadow to go down ten degrees: nay, but let the shadow return backward ten degrees. |
2Ki 20:11 AHAZ MIRACLES SUN-DIAL | And Isaiah the prophet cried unto26 the LORD: and he brought27 the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down in the dial28 of Ahaz. |
2Ki 20:12 | Berodach-baladan sending to visit Hezekiah, because of the wonder, has notice of his treasures. |
2Ki 20:12 Babylon | ¶ At that time Berodachbaladan29, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon31, sent letters32 and a present unto Hezekiah: for he had heard33 that Hezekiah had been sick. |
2Ki 20:13 SPICES | And Hezekiah hearkened unto them, and shewed34 them all the house of his precious things35, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour36, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not. |
2Ki 20:14 | Isaiah understanding thereof, foretells the Babylonian captivity. |
2Ki 20:14 Babylon | Then came Isaiah37 the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said38 these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country39, even from Babylon. |
2Ki 20:15 | And he said, What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All the things40 that are in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them. |
2Ki 20:16 | And Isaiah said unto Hezekiah, Hear41 the word of the LORD. |
2Ki 20:17 Babylon | Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store unto this day, shall be carried42 into Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD. |
2Ki 20:18 Babylon | And of thy sons43 that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be44 eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon. |
2Ki 20:19 SURRENDERED LIFE, THE | Then said Hezekiah unto Isaiah, Good45 is the word of the LORD which thou hast spoken. And he said, Is it not good, if peace and truth be in my days? |
2Ki 20:20 | Manasseh succeeds Hezekiah. |
2Ki 20:20 GIHON POOLS | ¶ And the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and all his might, and how he made a pool47, and a conduit, and brought water into the city, are they not written in the book48 of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? |
2Ki 20:21 HEZEKIAH | And Hezekiah slept49 with his fathers: and Manasseh50 his son reigned in his stead. |
