1Sa 3:1 ELI HOME SAMUEL SAMUEL YOUNG PEOPLE | ¶ And the child1 Samuel ministered unto the LORD before Eli. And the word2 of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no open vision. |
1Sa 3:2 LONG LIFE | And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place, and his eyes3 began to wax dim, that he could not see; |
1Sa 3:3 | And ere4 the lamp5 of God went out in the temple6 of the LORD, where the ark of God was, and Samuel was laid down to sleep; |
1Sa 3:4 | That the LORD called Samuel7: and he answered, Here am I. |
1Sa 3:5 | And he ran unto Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou calledst me. And he said, I called not; lie down again. And he went and lay down. |
1Sa 3:6 ELI | 8And the LORD called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again. |
1Sa 3:7 | Now Samuel9 did not yet10 know the LORD, neither was the word of the LORD yet revealed unto him. |
1Sa 3:8 ELI | And the LORD called Samuel again the third11 time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And Eli perceived that the LORD had called the child. |
1Sa 3:9 | Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak12, LORD; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place. |
1Sa 3:10 | ¶ And the LORD came13, and stood, and called as at other14 times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth. |
1Sa 3:11 | God tells Samuel the destruction of Eli's house. |
1Sa 3:11 WORKS OF GOD, WONDERFUL | ¶ And the LORD said to Samuel, Behold, I will do15 a thing in Israel, at which both the ears16 of every one that heareth it shall tingle. |
1Sa 3:12 | In that day I will perform17 against Eli all things which I have spoken concerning his house: when I begin18, I will also make an end. |
1Sa 3:13 ELI HOME HOPHNI AND PHINEHAS REPROBATES | For I have told him19 that I will20 judge his house for ever for the iniquity which he knoweth21; because his sons22 made themselves vile23, and he restrained them not. |
1Sa 3:14 | And therefore I have sworn unto the house of Eli, that the iniquity24 of Eli's house shall not be purged with sacrifice nor offering for ever. |
1Sa 3:15 | Samuel, though loath, tells Eli the vision. |
1Sa 3:15 | And Samuel lay until the morning, and opened25 the doors of the house of the LORD. And Samuel26 feared27 to shew Eli the vision. |
1Sa 3:16 | Then Eli called Samuel, and said, Samuel, my son. And he answered, Here am I. |
1Sa 3:17 | And he said, What is the thing that the LORD hath said unto thee? I pray thee28 hide it not from me: God29 do so to thee, and more also30, if thou hide any thing from me of all the things that he said unto thee. |
1Sa 3:18 ELI SURRENDERED LIFE, THE | And Samuel told him every whit31, and hid nothing from him. And he said, It is the LORD32: let him do what seemeth him good. |
1Sa 3:19 | Samuel grows in credit. |
1Sa 3:19 SAMUEL SAMUEL | ¶ And Samuel grew33, and the LORD34 was with him, and did let none35 of his words fall to the ground. |
1Sa 3:20 LEADERS, RELIGIOUS Beersheba Dan | ¶ And all Israel from Dan36 even to Beersheba knew that Samuel was established37 to be a prophet of the LORD. |
1Sa 3:21 SAMUEL Shiloh | And the LORD38 appeared39 again in Shiloh: for the LORD revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the word40 of the LORD. |
