How to get the LIVING WATER that your soul thirsts for.......
How refreshing it is to have a drink of cool fresh water on a dry hot day !
Well, the souls of mankind thirsts for a "Living Water" that the world can not supply.
People will try to satsify that emptiness in their soul with many things
that don't really satisfy, but merely serve as a temporary fix to try to
fill that empty spot that only God can fill. Some people try drugs, alcohol,
careers, hobbies, sports, entertainment, ect., to try to satsify what their
soul is thirsting for, but just like a missing puzzle piece in a jigsaw puzzle,
only God can really fill that spot like it needs to be filled.
"As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God" Psalm 42:1
"O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is" Psalm 63:1
"For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring" Isa. 44:3
"And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart" Jer. 29:13
WHAT exactly is this "LIVING WATER" ?
It is simply a descriptive term for the Spirit of God Himself !
"Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)" John 7:37-39
This refreshing experience of being filled with the Spirit of God was prophesied in the Old Testament -
"...the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation" Isa. 12:2,3
(roughly translated, JESUS means "Jehovah has become our salvation" !)
"For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing..." Isa. 28:11,12
We can also see from scripture that speaking in tongues is the conclusive evidence
that someone has been filled with the Spirit of God.
"And these signs shall follow them that believe...they shall speak with new tongues..." Matt. 16:17
"And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues,
as the Spirit gave them utterance" Acts 2:4
"...also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God"
Acts 10:45,46
"...the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues..." Acts 19:6
So HOW do you go about receiving this "LIVING WATER" ?
Well, remembering that the "Living Water" is simply the Spirit of God Himself,
here is what the scripture says on HOW to be filled with the Spirit -
"...Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,
and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost" Acts 2:38
Our part in obeying the gospel is to repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ,
then God will supernaturally fill you with His Spirit, just reach out to Him
with your whole heart in worship and praise and ask Him to fill you with
His Spirit and He will !
