mentioned the fact that one of the names used for God was Yah.... What's

ME: It’s like Doug and Douglas. Doug is not a different name then Douglas
it’s just not the complete form of the name. Names are often shortened in
this way especially if their added to other syllables to form a new word or
name.
G.W. Sullivan: I respect Bro. Bernard and his opinions, but when adding
vowels to YHVH, the best you can do is guess.
ME: Translators have to add vowels to words all the time to properly
transliterate them, otherwise we wouldn’t be able to pronounce them, then we
would have to guess. They added vowels to Enoch, Methusael, Abraham,
Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, David, Solomon, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel,
Daniel etc., that is why we know how to pronounce their names as well as
Yahweh’s name.
G.W. Sullivan: The same YHVH, which became JHVH, is the same four consonants
which gave us the word Jehovah.
ME: This is correct but to get Jehovah you have to add vowels, since Hebrew
did not have them included with their words. Adding vowels is good if you
use the right ones, I’ve given a few reference works that point out how the
word Jehovah developed.

Name and the vowels attached to it by the Masoretes but belonging to an
entirely different word. The sound of Y is represented by J and the sound of

pronunciation of the Tetragrammaton was never really lost. Greek

Despite unending evidence that Jehovah is a erroneous name I know some UPC
ministers who still use it, even after learning all this.
G.W. Sullivan: Annnnnnd Again, the only *God name* revealed in New Testament
scripture is, was, Jesus; Yahshua.
ME: In the Old Testament 5 Hebrew words are all translated at certain times
by one English word - Lord.

Jehovah = "the existing One," the proper name of the one true God,
unpronounced except with the vowel pointings of 0136 'Adonay.
Whereas in the New Testament, one Greek word, “kurios,” is translated by 7
English words, one of them being lord.

The English word Lord in the NT is most often used to translate all 5 Hebrew
words used in the OT. Look for instance at Ps 110:1,
Ps 110:1The LORD (Yahweh) said unto my Lord (adown), Sit thou at my right
hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.
Lu 20:42 And David himself saith in the book of Psalms, The LORD (kurios)
said unto my Lord (kurios), Sit thou on my right hand, 43 Till I make thine
enemies thy footstool.
In the NT where no distinction is made between the 5 Hebrew word, since they
all are translated by “kurios,” OT passages lose their true meaning unless
the Hebrew definitions are found and applied.
Here we have David saying, Yahweh (the Father) said unto my (David’s) lord
(the Messiah) Sit thou on my right hand. Yahshua was the Son of David and
yet Yahshua asked the scribes why would David, a patriarch, call one of his
sons lord or master. How did a son become lord over his own father? This is
answered in Ac 2:36 “Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly,
that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and
Christ.” Way back in Ps 110 Yahweh said He would do it and in Act 2 it is
done.

unless you can show me New Testament *scripture* that sheds any new light on
your position.
ME: The above is just one of hundreds of times the name Yahweh is used in
the NT. I already had pointed out in my last post how Peter used Yahweh’s
name when quoting Joel 2:31. Peter on the day of Pentecost: “Whosoever
shall call on the name of Yahweh shall be save”Acts 2:21.
How we know Yahweh’s name is in the NT is because all the apostles had at
that time was the OT, and they quoted from it over and over. Here are just a
few of the times the NT has in it portions of the OT with the Hebrew word
#3068 YHVH intact.
Mt 2:15 And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled
which was spoken of the Lord (Yahweh) by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt
have I called my
son.
Ho 11:1 When Israel [was] a child, then I loved him, and called my son out
of Egypt
Mt 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord (Yahweh) thy God
with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy
mind. De 6:5 And thou shalt love the LORD
(Yahweh) thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all
thy might.
Mr 12:29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments [is],
Hear, O Israel; The Lord (Yahweh)our God is one

(Yahweh)our God [is] one LORD (Yahweh).
Lu 2:23 (As it is written in the law of the Lord (Yahweh), Every male that
openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord

Lu 3:4 As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet,
saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the
Lord (Yahweh), make his paths

saying, Behold, the Lord (Yahweh) cometh with ten thousands of his
saints. De 33:2 The LORD (Yahweh)came from Sinai, and rose up from Seir
unto them; he shined forth from mount Paran, and he came with ten thousands
of saints.
What these verses prove is that Yahweh is the Almighty God of both the Old
and New Testaments.
