AND YOU
Ephesians 2:1 And you [hath he quickened], who were dead in
trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course
of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit
that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all
had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the
desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of
wrath, even as others. But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love
wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us
together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised [us] up
together, and made [us] sit together in heavenly [places] in Christ Jesus:
That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in
[his] kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
Get your Bible, and open it to the book of Ephesians. Try to read it
and at the same time ignore the verse and chapter numbers. Watch the
sentence structure, and the rules of the English language.
In chapter one, you will find the explanation of where Jesus was
elevated to at the time of His resurrection.
"In Heavenly places-- Far above". The next few verses (21,22,13)
explain the relationship of Jesus to EVERYTHING and EVERYBODY else.
The break between 1:23 and 2:1 should never have been made, for Paul
was still writing about the resurrection of Jesus. If we read the context as
it was being written, it would go something like this: Ephesians 1:20 Which
he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set [him] at his
own right hand in the heavenly [places], ----- Ephesians 2:1 And you [hath he
quickened], who were dead in trespasses and sins; ----- Ephesians 2:6 And
hath raised [us] up together, and made [us] sit together IN HEAVENLY [places]
IN CHRIST JESUS:
Provisionally, we have been elevated, in Jesus, to THE HEAVENLY
places, where all things are beneath us. We are VICTORS. Victors over
circumstances, feelings, depressions, discouragements, adversities and all
dangers.
I fear that we are failing to grasp the import of Paul's writings,
and are living defeated lives in many areas where we COULD be enjoying
victorious living.
"In heavenly places--- Far above--- In Christ Jesus." !!!
