This sounds more like Sabellianism than it does classical Modalistic
Monotheism.
The proclamation attached to the birth of Jesus was "He shall be called
Immanuel
which being interpreted is God with us".  Isaiah 9:6 says, "unto us a
child is
born...his name shall be called....Mighty God, Everlasting Father.  This
clearly
teaches Jesus as the Lord at his birth.

Sabellian taught that Jesus was not God until his baptism.  Is this what
you are
indicating also?
