Actually, I was differentiating between earned income and unearned
income.  Money donated to the church is not earned, but given -- as in 
a gift.  You can't earn the Holy Ghost either.

Tithes are not to the church, but to the pastor, so it would not
qualify as church income, although it does qualify as ministerial
income, and is considered earned even though it is given, because it
is required to be given.  [my interpretation]
