Hello Andy:

Well, I read your critique of the explanation of Job. Let me input some more
for your observation. This is interesting... Your observation between fear
was excellent ("fear of God/ reverence" or "fear of the unknown") I want to
point out that Job was blaming the wrong source. It wasn't God who caused
all this trajedy on him. Look at where Job blamed God for his problems:

1. "...the Lord hath taken away..." Job 1:21

2. "For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, the poison whereof
drinketh up my spirit..." Job 6:4

3. "...the terrors of God do set themselves in array against me" Job 6:4

4. "...why hast thou set me as a mark against thee..." Job 7:20

5. "And why dost thou not pardon my transgression" Job 7:21

6. "...he...multiplieth my wounds without cause" Job 9:17

7. "...but filleth me with bitterness" Job 9:18

8. "...Does it really seem right for you to oppress and despise me" Job 10:3 LB

9. "...Thou huntest me as a fierce lion..." Job 10:16

10. "Though he slay me..." Johb 13:15

11. "...You O Lord destroy the hope of man" Job 14:19 AMP

12. "He...hateth me..." Job 16:9

13. "...He has made be a byword of the people..." Job 17:6 AMP

14. "...I scream for help and no one hears me...God has blocked my path..."
Job 19:7-8 LB

15. "...He has set darkness upon my paths" Job 19:8 AMP

I listed only a few. Over 70 times, Job stated that God is the source of his
problem. And many times Job blamed God Himself as his problem. Job accused
God for the condition he found himself in.

God is not the problem. The Lord didn't take away. God is the solution to
our problems, not the cause of them (Hello!).

All I am saying is that many have misunderstood the Book of Job and have
said "you see, look what God did to Job." I don't want the unbelievers to
get the impression that God does bad to people. I have been to many funerals
where a preacher will use the verse in Job by saying "The Lord giveth and
the Lord taketh away..." I had a relative pass away a couple of years ago.
There were many unsaved loved ones present when this preacher made this
statement. The unsaved relatives told me "If this is what God is like, I
don't want to have any part of Him." They were bitter at God because they
felt that God was the one who took the saved relative. I explained to them
that Jesus came to bring us life and that God promises long life to those
who desire it, if they walk uprightly.

The preacher was an aquaintance of mine. I spoke to him a few days later
about his usage of that verse. He admitted that he used it in a wrong way. I
will conclude here so as not to prolong this discussion.
