Matthew:

Your points are well taken. However, just a quick response to what you call me:
>
>We've watched the volley back and forth between antiWoFers and Dave (our on-
>line specimen of WoF).

I'm a human being, not an alien (illegal for that matter). Specimen sounds a
little distasteful, so understand that I'm just as human as you.

Kenneth Hagin did write:

>He writes in his _Word_of_Faith_ magazine:
>
> Often, you create your own negative situations your-
> self with wrong thinking, wrong believing, and wrong
> speaking. So start believing according to God's word.
> Then, begin making positive confessions of faith and
> victory over your life . . . You will never receive
> anything from God beyond the words you speak . . .
> Friends, you will have what you say in life. That
> is a spiritual law God put into motion, and it
> will work in your life for the good or the bad.
> It's up to you . . . If you don't like what you have
> in life, then begin to change the way you are thinking,
> believing, speaking. Instead of speaking according to
> natural circumstances out of your _head_, learn to
> speak God's word from your _spirit_. Begin to con-
> fess God's promises of life and health and victory
> into your situation. Then you can begin to en-
> joy abundant life as you have what you say. . .
>

Don't you recall a verse in the Word which basically states that God is able
to do exceedingly and abundantly above all that you ask or think according
to the power that works in us. Matthew, as I said before, I'm going to say
again, as long as your confession is in line with the Word of God, which you
call the Bible, there is nothing wrong with it. Bro. Hagin above speaks
truth. What is the opposite of what he is demonstrating? If you speak
defeat, failure, negative, unbelief, doubt, etc. this is how one will live.
>
>Charles Capps, WoF author, in _The_Tongue,_A_Creative_Force_ further
>articulates this idea into sure error:
>
> Spirit words can control both the spirit world
> and the physical world. Because the words
> themselves have power, they will work for
> either God or man in the same manner . . .
> the spirit of man is not of this world, it
> is of the spirit world . . . He [man]
> breathes spirit life into God's word and
> it becomes a living substance, working
> for him as it worked for God in the be-
> ginning. These spirit words dominate
> the natural world. (117-8)
>
>If you don't think words contain authority or can wound, the next time you
see your wife or girlfriend, tell her she's ugly. Believe me, this will
hurt. In essense, we must be careful what we speak.

As far as the other quotes you cited, I cannot take the time to address
each. However, if you are really concerned about the issues you brought up
by Copeland and others, it would be wise for you to contact these men
directly and inquire what they meant by it. I understand what they are
saying, but it is by no means metaphysical. Matthew, in whose image were you
created? The ball is in your court.

If you'd like, let's discuss one issue at a time. Also, I would like to
kindly request that you not term Word of Faith a "movement." It is a
lifestyle that I have adopted because it's based on the Word. Whatever is
not based on the Word, I won't have anything to do with it. I haven't read
the rest of my mail, but hopefully this will have addressed any other
concerns. "Life and death are in the power of the tongue; and they that love
it shall eat the fruit thereof." Prov.18:21
