I know of no other vision outside Revelation that is taken literally.
I may be missing an obvious one, though.  And if that is true, then
I would tend to feel Revelation should not be taken literally in the 
visionary aspects.  Some of Revelation's visions are interpreted by the 
angels anyway.

For one thing, aside from the fact that it is a vision, 144,000 is too 
specific and precise.  That is one reason I just don't think it is literal.
