                    MORE THAN CONQUERORS

The Apostle Paul spent a few days in Athens, and was invited to preach to
them. Read all about it in Acts 17.

He had spent some time in looking over the city, and was impressed by the
many altars erected to the various gods of the Athenians. They even had one
for the "Unknown God", for fear of insulting one by having left him out.

In seeing all those altars, Paul undoubtedly saw the beautiful statue of
Alexander the Great. Alexander has been hailed as one of the all-time
greatest military generals. In his short career of maybe thirteen years, he
conquered most of the then known world. It is said of him that he wept one
day because there were no more nations to conquer.

His statue in Athens had the inscription "CONQUEROR" on it.

Can't you just picture Paul, as he looked at it, saying to himself the words
he was yet to pen in one of his letters-- "We are MORE THAN CONQUERORS
THROUGH HIM THAT LOVED US--"

Friends, the best of worldly accomplishments turns pale when placed alongside
what God is able to do in the lives of those who set out to make Him their
Lord and Master. "Greater is he that ruleth his own spirit--"
