What if this number is referring to all those of the OT being saved under 
the OT economy but that God has founded a NEW Covenant and that the 
144000 represents the completion!  i.e. 12=consumation 12 x 12 = total 
consumation of the Old Testament economy.  

Yes they are from the TRIBES.  But God is no respecter of persons nor of 
lineage.  Now those that are baptized into Christ are Abrahams Seed and 
hiers according to the Ppromise.

There is my 2 cents worth :-)  Something to think about.
