Air-conditioning the tabernacle -Reply

I remember being a kid at camp--the counselors had air conditioned
quarters, and so did their kids. We "common" kids had to put up with the
heat. I don't suppose it was really all that bad, though. But I can see
why some people might associate hot weather with camp.

Just last November, however, a bunch of us went to Bro. Robert
Akers's church for their Camp Meeting--of course, at that time of year, the
heat wasn't a factor. But MAN, the Holy Ghost moved! With everyone
singing, shouting, praising the Lord, dancing in the Spirit, and just doing
things we Pentecostals do, it sure was nice not to be sweat-drenched and
exhausted from the heat. Also, when there are sinners giving their heart to
God and people praying for the Holy Ghost, it's nice not to have hot weather
be a distraction in the house of God. In short, I'm for air
conditioning--even during camp meeting. I know we can "do" without it--but
I think it's better to not have to. It sure seemed like camp meeting last
November! -even without the hot weather and oppressively hot facilities.
