Of course, style is important and it makes for effective delivery... but
aren't we sort of losing the focus here?
Apostle Paul says I do not speak with the wisdom of men, of words and
persuasion but of the power of God.....
I think it matters little if you are not eloquent or even a defective
style by man's standards... what is important is to render it unto God..
remember He shows his strengths via our weaknesses... such is the God
that we serve....

Yes, Paul said those words (arrh, but we do take them out of
context....) Paul said (1 Cor 2:1,4 KJV) "And I, brethren, when I came
to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto
you the testimony of God. And my speech and my preaching was not with
enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and
of power:"
Who was Paul talking too here? C-o-r-i-n-t-h-i-a-n-s... Very slow
people, and ignorant people indeed. So when Paul stated the above, he
was not saying that he never spoke with intelligence, he was just saying
that he couldn't talk to the Corinthians with big words and intelligence
because they were like babes and not able to handle the strong meat of
the Word. This is true because when Paul went to Acropolis (Mars Hill)
he had to sound intelligent in order to even have the philosophers
listen to him. Paul was a Jew of Jews, a former student at the feet of
Gamalial, you can't say that Paul never learnt to articulate himself in
a dignified manner. Quite to opposite is what I would submit. Paul was
simple to the simple and complex to the complex.
Once again, I emphasize, with direct attention to a man's demeanor in
the pulpit. It is the place of God, it is where communication from God
is funneled from His throne to the ears and hearts of His children.
Therefore the conduit (preacher) should be as conductive as possible to
the message of the Holy Spirit. The qualification for a conduit is:
submission, intelligence, & discernment. You can hear the wind and see
its effects, it is important for a preacher to be able to determine the
direction of the Spirit and go in that direction.
