Doris, sounds like a good idea, I see your motivation- wanting to get
other members to show up. I was once the Outreach Director of our
church, I had to give it up because I couldn't motivate others to become
soulwinners, it was affecting my attitude.
I finally decided to just do what I do the best that I can and that
would be my effort at motivation, you know what, it worked. I have been
able to inspire several to become HBS teachers by my example.
My suggestion is to keep your fire burning, continue setting a good
example and it will rub off on others that can me motivated. In my
humble layman's opinion- most church people can be place into three
basic cadagories- I call them the 3 W's . The WILLS, the WONT'S, and the
Woulds.
The Wills are the ones that need no motivation, they are always ready
to help in any way. They love their pastor, and the lost. These people
are a joy to be around.
Next is the WONT'S. These usually have a negative attitude, do very
little, but are quick to criticize. These shouldn't be our concern, they
are the business of their pastor, and the Holy Ghost. Take note of them,
don't talk about them, and don't look down on them.
Last are the WOULD'S. This is perhaps the greatest untapped resource
in Pentecost. These people WOULD be more on fire for God if they were
involved, if they felt that they had a place in the church. We as laymen
can inspire thes people by our example. We can help our pastors by
involving them in soulwinning, ect in the church. By doing this they
will want to show up for midweek services.
As I said -- just my opinion- it worked for me and helped my attitude
more than I could tell you. Roger Evans PFC MArrero,LA
