Downing of Flight 800

The FBI quickly reponded to the report as flat out wrong.
They said it they havent ruled out a missle shooting the plane 
down but they know for a fact(yeah right..) that it was NOT the Navy!

Who do we believe in all of this?  A reporter who changes his story 
probably more times than his clothes or do we believe a government
which would do just about anything to keep its image clean?
